After extensive usage, the joystick on my phone is no longer responding very well, the click option still works, it's just the up, down, left and right motions that dont.
I've read that this is a general problem with Sony phones, however, does anyone know how I may be able to fix it?
Thanks in advance
Stephen
Hi Stephen
I also have a sony ericsson (D750i) with joystick problems.
As i suspect it's dust clogging the contact points beneath, what i do to clear it is use a fine old toothbrush to brush around the opening of the joystick and it also helps if you blow hard into that area...i imagine a compressed airline would be ideal.
Iknow it seems a bit primitive doing this to such a technologically advanced phone but it does work....even though it is only for a couple days.
As i've got about 4-5 months left on my present 18 contract, my next step is to see if one of those mobile phone "hospital" shops can open it up and give it a good clean and maybe sort a new facsia for it.
Anyway, i'm not sure i'll be going for a sony next time....unless they can sort this problem.
Good Luck
Andrew

The problem with the phone is that the joystick is weak and is not sitting anymore on the phones board, it need to be replaced. That is what you have to do, they sell the joystick in stores or you can get a phone that no longer works and use the joystick.
You will have to take out the joystick by disassembling the phone, and reaching for it,then replace it with new one. That works all the time,if not the phone will be out of controll as the navigation button is what shows its functions.
Hello, Here's the solution to your problem, you have to configure the games you're playing for the joystick to work, I believe all games have this option, ussualy in the "configure keyboard and mouse" options menu, click on any funcion you want your joystick to use for each button, and then press the button you want for that function, do that with all buttons of the joystick you want to use, some games need the joystick axis to be configured, just click on left/right and move your joystick in the desired direction, same procedure to up/down, if your joystick has a throttle wheel, do the same for it (if needed). Procedure is simple and most games has small variants of this procedures I gave you, but they are simple to figure out. Hope my solution helps, have a nice day :)
Is it the directional buttons or the joystick that isn't responding, and does it not respond with everything or just certain games or menus? First thing you could try that would be the easiest is with the system off and the battery out put some rubbing alcohol or windex into the buttons or joystick. Not a lot just enough to get it into and under the contacts. After doing this work the buttons a bit or spin the joystick around to try to loosen any dirt build up. Then use an air compressor or a can of air and spray the buttons or joystick to disperse the fluid so it can dry. Let it set for about a half an hour or longer to dry and give it a try. If this doesn't work you may have to take it apart to replace either the joystick or the directional pad strip. You can find easy tutorials on youtube for disassembling it.
Good luck and happy gaming!

ya the joystick will work you can use it because am also having the same am using it , its perfect but you have change control options in the game to joystick control and also if you want you can the options as you like, but this kind of joy is mainly used for flight running games but it also works for all joypad control games too.
you dont get any responds or recognition from windows other then in the deivce manager. it is working on the older joystick system so only the game has the capability of recognizing and making the button assignment if it supports joystick drivers.
in case your using driver that are too new here are the drivers for 15 pin logitech devices.
you have to clean the joystick by using contact cleaner. open the cover of joy stick, there is a switch inside it having a metallic cover. use contact cleaner and let it for few minutes. DONT FORGET TO REMOVE LCD FIRST. it can be damage with contact cleaner. i had a bad experience of it. btw it happens with sony ericsson phone joystick problem.if joystick problem still persist u have to show it to sony ericsson repair centre or your warranty center of mobile.and u can also use the keys your keypad keys for up down left right.
thankyou.
