Paint Chipping I am borrowing a Pali Donna Crib and the previous child chewed on the top of the railing. I would like to paint the crib, but I would also like to know if I can purchase a piece that can go on the rails to avoid this from happening in the future.

I am hoping someone knows where I can purchase a clear piece that can go on the top of the rail to avoid my child from chewing on the crib.

A piece of plastic hosepipe, sliced down the side might do the job - glue it on with a small amount of silicon sealant (don't worry you can get it off if you need to). The other way would be to wrap something around the rail in the style of bandages - use some clear PVC (Vinyl) or similar cut into strips. you could use adhesive pvc tape, but the glue tends to work it's way out and gets sticky and messy. If you are struggling to see what I mean then have a look at a few pictures of sailing yachts in harbour (google image search works well) - you will see every different possible way of covering up a railing. Hope this helps, I found no sign of a purpose designed piece for this crib online :)

I bought a used simmons crib and it does not come with manual. I think the model looks like the Pali Katie Crib. Here is the model number 0177201 00 243. Do you have the manual or can you direct me where I...

www.simmonsjp.com I believe there is a recall on this crib model.. you should check it out..can contact Simmons anytime at (800) 421-2951 or at www.simmonsjp.com/recall.cfm
Simmons is offering a free repair kit, which includes replacement brackets and instructions. The repair can be made easily in the home.

Most of the recalled Simmons cribs were made in 1998. Those sold at Sears were made in 1998, 1999 and 2000. Only "98" cribs of all models are recalled, except for Sears cribs. For Sears cribs (which are model numbers 025260 and 065060), the years "98" "99" and "00" are recalled because the problem bracket hooks were used all three years. The brackets on all other Simmons cribs except for Sears changed to different type attachments after 1998. The cribs were sold under the name "Little Folks". Simmons and the two-digit year of manufacture are written on a label affixed to the crib's headboard. The year is the two-digit number following the model number. "Little Folks" is on another label affixed to the headboard. The cribs are constructed of maple or ash, and are painted or stained in more than a dozen different colors, including natural, golden and white. "Simmons" is written on the top rail. Simmons will help consumers identify if their crib is recalled.

Lullabye crib from 1966...Is its orig paint lead-free?

It is possible that the paint used on the crib did infact contain lead. "Lead" paint was deemed unsafe and banned from use in 1978. Best way to check this is to go to your local hardware store and request a lead test kit. Follow the instructions as each test can be different. Hope this helps.

Pali crib conversion to a bed

you can buy a low railing with a space in it for conversion, but my daughter kept falling off -- it isn't really low enough to make a decent toddler bed.

Pali Dauphine Crib

I just had side rails made for my daughter's dauphine. I recommend finding a good furniture maker and have them make it. It cost about $250.

Convert to toddler bed

They do have answers on their website, you may want to check your printed or online crib instructions to remind yourself how you put the crib together, too.

I found the answers here:
http://www.pali-design.com/index.php?path=customer_services&template=faq&section=customer_services&subsection=faq&page=faq

i've pasted them below. You can make it a toddler bed without a side rail just by removing the movable side of your crib, and you can install the side rail instead of the movable side if you want it to look a little more finished and help keep your child from rolling out of the bed.

FAQ

How to convert a crib into a toddler bed
To convert a crib into a toddler bed you must loosen the two front gold bolts left and right side of the crib and remove the dropside (the front gate that goes up and down). After removing the dropside be very careful that you tighten back your two gold bolts.

How to install the streight rail (toddler rail)
To install a streight (toddler) rail loosen the two front gold bolts left and right side of the crib and remove the dropside, once you have removed the dropside replace with the streight rail. Always be very careful and make sure you tighten back your two gold bolts in the front.
