My mouse just suddenly stopped working. I have changed the batteries and I have tried to re-link the mouse. Nothing has worked. I have unplugged things and plugged them back in, hit the link button simultaneously along with pushing the mouse button and nothing has been successful
From the Jasco website, some other options to try: Batteries: Tracking can be affected by low or dead batteries. Try replacing the batteries with a fresh set and test the tracking. Although you can use rechargeable batteries, alkaline batteries have been found to have the longest battery life. Interference with other electrical products: Other electrical devices may interfere with the radio signal that the mouse uses to communicate with the receiver. Try placing the receiver in a different location, away from the monitor, zip drives, and other electrical devices. Also, try rotating the receiver so it is on its side (or back). Range of the receiver: GE cordless pointing devices can transmit a signal up to 2 meters (appr 6 ft). Make sure the receiver and mouse are within the 2 meters of each other.

Check the curly wire that butts the battery. I have had to pull it out a bit to ensure a snug fit. It seems that it is a silly millimeter off, and that is what causes it to stop.
However, I just dropped my laptop, and bent the usb .... can you buy just that?

Check the contacts on the USB conection. These can be damaged by bumping or on insertion to the USB port. I have had this happen twice and have had to buy new units to get the USB plug in component. Is there amy where to buy just the USB component?

I am having a similar problem.... i have also changed the batteries but it still doesnt work....
i got the same problem too. i threw away the instruction book how to re link it. u guys know the steps??? or is this mouse just shitty??? i shoulda got a logitech
I have the same problem. I just sat here for the last 30 minutes trying to re-link the darn thing. I walk away for about 10 min. when I return, it's working. I should have got a logitec.
My batteries are new, so its not that.
My GE Wireless Optical Mouse 97990 Rev 4 eats batteries at the rate of 2 every 2 weeks. I was going out of town so, to save the batteries, I turned it off. When I turned it back on, it refused to work. Changed batteries but still won't work. It is in the same position as before so it is not distance, interference, or anything else from the Trouble Shooting. It just will not work.
I have the same problem. This really frustrates me. My mouse is brand new out of the package. The mouse worked for ten minutes. I have tried all the same steps just like everyone else. Now I'm stuck with this piece of garbage.
exact same problem! i have had this mouse for only a few months and it was wonderful - worked great. all of the sudden, i am using it, and it just stops working. just like that! i put brand new batteries in it and tried resetting the link buttons and nothing. i threw away the booklet so now what?! i guess i have to complain to GE and hope they send me a refund. grrrr. :\
Mine worked fine for about two weeks. Now it's busted. Re-linking and new batteries didn't work.
I have the same problem except mine stopped working in less than a week after I bought it. That was a great waste of money.
I don't think it's the batteries because the red light has been on for a couple of days and I know the batteries have a longer life than a week.
Ge Wireless Mouse It's a battery eater! Try brand named batteries. Those discount batteries are no discount, they are worthless most times. Some of the batteries I've bought have even been D.O.A. I've even bought some on Ebay in bulk approx. 600 ( it came in the packages, but wasn't sealed), they were from returns and other defective products and being sold as NEW. Months later after the Seller received bad feedback changed the listing from new to returns.
IVe had this thing for a week and it abruptly stopped working. I changed out the batteries and re-linked. NO LUCK. Target wont accept the return because its not in the plastic container I cut apart to open it. What a joke.
Mouse disappears from desktop when left unused for a period of time?
I have a 97990 GE mouse, use recharge batteries works great! HOWEVER, the last few weeks the scroll button has been squeaking, likes its sitting off center. AND now it wont scroll at all, the pointer works and R/L button functions but the SCROLL is BROKEN. Bought at Target! Only a few mos old.
Wondering if solution to this prob?
exact same
i just need help linking the mouse; i forgot how to do it
Same exact problem with my 97990... Bought it from Target and it worked great for a day, then it wouldn't give a wireless signal. Got it to come back the next day for about an hour and then it lost it again. The dongle is lighting up when it's plugged in and the batteries in the mouse are perfectly new, but no matter how I press the buttons they will not link. Distance isn't making any difference either, I can hold the mouse right next to the dongle and try to link them with no effect.
I should've saved my $20.
