Machine error 41

I receive a error cade in the screen. Machine error 41. How do I repair, I am in Okinawa Japan with no Brother support.

Tried to make a copy, after having the printer print out several copies of something I did not need. Pressed Stop button and as a result it read in viewer-Mission error 41. (The duplicate copies that were printed were the result of print order that I made on the HP printer that I use at vacation home) When I connected to my Brother printer here at home they all started coming through and that is when I pressed stop button.

i have same type issue, "machine error 41" says call Brother.
Is this a print head issue needing cleaned or new print heads needed. A friend just gave me this unit MFC-5100 C print/fax/copy/scan unit. I had it working last week, no issues.

It needs a new printer head they say it will cost me 170.00 to fix ....this is a problem alot of people are having with this machine

If you leave it long enough it will probably give an error 41 which is the print head at fault. If so then the machine is scrap as its not worth repairing.

I change replace all ink in my brother mfc-5100c after that I receive this message: "Machine error 41, unplug the machine call brother". Please,What can I do to fix it? I rely on you for any assitance.

Machine Error 41means the printhead is bad. It's a fairly easy repair on that model, but an expensive part and requires replacing all four ink cartridges at the same time. New machines are so much smaller and cheaper that it may not be worth it. There are also some setting that must be changed in Service Mode to match the machine to the characteristics of the new head.
If you're still interested, look for Brother part number LK0935001.

Error 41. Unplug machine and call Brother

Hi there

Error 41 means there is a major problem with the printhead, usually
requires a print head replacement.
My advice is to take it to a
Brother service centre while if it is under warranty.
If it's out of warranty they are usually a throw away job, the heads cost as much as the printer.

Sorry I know what it feels like, just have a go and see what you can do, clean the heads and so on.

Brother MFC 210C Machine error 41

Error 41 refers to the printheads which is a common problem with Brother machines. The printheads will need to be replaced. On some machines, Brother has extended the warranty to cover printheads because of the excessive failure rate. Contact Brother to see if you qualify and they may send you new printheads along with easy instructions to replace them. Also please rate this solution with a fixya rating. Thanks!

This is the only reference I could find on error 41: How can I clear the message Machine Error 41 from the display? (ME41)

Machine Error 41 indicates a mechanical malfunction of the Brother
machine. Unplug the unit from the power source and then plug it back
in.

If the error message continues to be displayed on the LCD, please call
Brother Customer Service at 1-800-284-4329 for assistance. The Customer
Service center is open Monday through Friday, from 9:00AM to 7:00PM,

if you have an error 41 the machine wont print any more due to a short circuit in the print head.

plz check error message.

anyway, if you have received error 41 you need a new printhead or better (because its cheaper) a new mfc.

Error 41 is Print head needs to be replaced, on this model it is not a big job, Heads can be purchased from Brother dealers, ring brother to locate if you wish to repair this machine rather than replace it.

Head sells for about $80 for the part from a brother dealer 1-800-284-4329 and it will need a new set of inks too, not really worth it just replace with new machine with ink and a warranty.

Very common issue, brother extended warranty for this fault for two years but yours would be past it by now, the s/n tells of build date, the first two digits of the LAST NINE of the serial number indicate build date, so a K6J702822 ending serial no. means it was built K6 = Nov 06.

I beleive that this is a result a lot of the time by the use of refills and remanufactured ink cartridges being used.

There is heaps of info on net regarding "error 41".

Machine Error 41 and USB Cable

Hi, According to the User Manual any Machine Error (XX or in your case 41) refers to a mechanical problem. You have to call Brother Customer Service (USA: 1-800-284-4329; Canada: 1-877-BROTHER; Montreal: (514) 685-6464. You can also try checking out the machine, if it is new, check that all the plastic/tape retainers are removed (outside and inside); it is also possible that there is a locking lug/nut or screw somewhere (most likely underneath) that is only needed when in transit or when shipped that must be removed/opened/released when the machine is to be in operation. The USB connection is essential, it is the PC interface (and normally should be included in the box but can be bought from any computer outlet). This is how your PC communicates what it wants to be printed to your 3420C. Hope this works for you. Good luck.
