My front load washing machine makes an horrendous noise when it spins . It has also deposited a load of oil over my wash. There seem to be some very small particles of something, no idea what, over some of the clothes. Some of these particles seem quite hard.
The machine is about 5 years old, maybe 6.
It first left oil on clothes about a dozen washes ago and I thought perhaps I'd accidentally left something amongst the clothes (my husband does a lot of motorbike mechanics). The noise started just a few washes ago.
Any idesa anyone?
I would think that the bearings have gone, spiin empty tub by hand and a rumbling noise will confirm also removing the rear cabinet will probably reveal a trail of rusty water down the outer tub.the answer is new shaft £40 and a bearing kit £22 your husband should be able to try it af as you say he is mechanically minded

jill...THIS IS A TOTAL GUESS? If you overload a washer....it may do this. Also...sometimes you have to adjust your load in the spin cycle...as the high speed rotation to remove the water will cause a radial vibration because of the weight being out of balance. If it does it with any size load...then you probably need suggestions from someone else or a local repair person.
You may also want to go to the manufactures web site and see if they have any trouble shooting suggestions there. Would also help if you post the brand of machine/ upright or front loader....how old and of course the machine should be on a level surface or be leveled. Good Luck! Goodn
