Question about Apex Digital GB43HD09 43" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
I am wondering what I can check myself on a TV that did not survive our last thunderstorm. TV was on during the storm when the lights went off, and did not return when they came back on. The serge took out the TV and the DirecTV box, but did not affect any other television or DirecTV box in the house (they were not on, but plugged in). I do not have an authorized Apex service center anywhere near me and I understand parts and schematics are difficult to obtain. Any help would be appreciated.
If you have homeowners insurance and can file a claim on it, perhaps your insurance adjuster knows of a shop that could handle this problem. Most likely you will be needing the power board replaced, p/n 8667200700T unless it can be repaired. The schematic for this set is not listed as an available part for this set (In the future it would be very wise to stay away from any manufacturer that does not support what they make). After restoring power to the set, you could find that there are other problems such as a defective tuner or audio/video problems due to the power surge. It may be possible to fix the power supply without a schematic if that is the only part that has been damaged.
