Sound quit working

The television worked just fine in the morning, then that afternoon when we turned it on, there was no sound ... (we hadn't done anything in between). We have gone through all of the menu screens and even tried headphones in the front jack but still have no sound. The picture is great and everything else (including CC) seems to be working just fine. Any suggestions as to what the problem could be?

The sound suddenly quit on my RCA projector screen TV. I'm guessing it is about 15 years old but the picture is super and I'm not ready to replace it. I don't get sound when playing a DVD either. HELP!

I have the same model Proscan 32" TV and dealt with this issue. What works for me is to reset the TV by unplugging it for at least 2 hours to drain the capacitor and this resets the whole TV. The audio will come back as normal. This is cheaper than buying a new one!

I have exactly the same problem with sound on the same model TV. I just followed the advice that was given,... sure enough my VCR and DVD players are getting sound from the TV. >>> This was good advice,... on reviewing my Cable Box,... it says Audio -Digital OUT. I'm calling my cable company to repair my box. TV is still OK then !!

You didn't mention if you were using the TV with a cable or satellite TV box which could have its sound turned down or be defective. Otherwise, if you have a VCR or DVD hooked up to the set, do you get sound then? With some TV's there is a menu selection where you can turn the speakers off and on some sets, there is a switch to mute the speakers. If you still can't get sound and the set is out of warranty, then a replacement is probably in order.
