Just reset to turn on

Hi, Once you forget the Password, your only option is to perform a Hard Reset on the device and reset back to Factory defaults. You data will be lost, as this is in place to protect you in case the device has been lost or stolen. If you have backups, or sync the device with Outlook, you can run a restore or re-sync the device to populate the data back into your device. To do a hard reset:

1. Press the Power button to turn the Axim unit On.
2. Press and hold the Power button down while using the Axim stylus to press the Reset button at the same time.
3. Release the Power button and the Reset button. The To clear all data in the memory screen appears.
4. Press the Contacts button on the Axim to delete all of the data in the memory of the Axim handheld.
5. Press the Mail button on the Axim to cancel the operation without losing data.

unplug the unit from the cahrger, to remove the battery then put it back in, and then try to turn it on. this is just a work around.

try a hard reset

Dell Axim x50 / x50v / x51 / x51v:

Make sure the device is on before performing hard reset. To hard reset, press and hold the power button and press in on the reset button (reset hole) on the back of the unit for about 2-3 seconds. Release both buttons and you will see a confirmation screen asking you if you would like to clear all data in memory. To do so press the Contacts button. To cancel press the Mail button.

IT may be that the mainboard is faulty and would need to be replaced.

There is only one way that I know of from DELL and is performing a "Hard Reset". You will loose all your loaded programs and data loaded in Flash memory in the process:
1. With the Axim turned ON, press the Reset button until it clicks and hold it, then
2. Press the Power button, then
3. Release the Reset button, then
4. Release the Power button.
When you see the prompt on the screen, press the "Contacts" button to reset the Axim to factory defaults. You can also choose to press the "Mail" button if you need to cancel the reset process. :)

I would suggest that you start with a soft reset. If that does not work, then you may need to try a hard reset.
