Remove the toner, and try to gently pull out the paper jam.. If the page gets torn, or ripped, make sure you have all the pieces of the paper removed. Then re-start the printer. Print a test page to make sure the paper path is clear..

Any idea how to fix it? Is it the sensor or something else?

Open totally the cassete look for paper jam inside that might cover the sensor.
Remove cassete and look for black plastic actuator located on top of paper when cassete is inserted, it might be broken.
If all are ok , press as follow to reset the malfunction [off] while pressing [ Utility/Counter] turn [On] wait till the display appear then [trouble reset] it will appear OK on screen turn OFF/ON main power.

Paper jam cassete 1

Paper jams can be tricky to solve. The paper is usually stuck inside the printer mechanism so even if there is no visible paper jam, you will still get the paper jam error. Try this:

1. Turn off your printer
2. Open all trays and remove any paper stuck there
3. Locate the button to open the printer, open it and remove any paper stuck there also.
4. Repeate the above step for all buttons that you can find to access the inside of the printer
5. Close all doors and put back all trays
6. Turn on your printer

Paper jamed

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Perform the steps below in order to solve this incidence:
  1. Disconnect the power cord or power supply adaptor from the rear of the HP All-in-One product.
  2. Remove the paper pack remaining in the input tray.
WARNING - Do not try to remove the jammed paper sheet yet. Trying to clear a paper jam from the front of the device can damage the print mechanism. Always clear paper jams through the rear access door.
  1. Open the rear access door or the two-sided printing accessory.
  2. Gently pull the jammed paper sheet out of the rollers.
  3. If the paper tore when it was being removed from the rollers, check the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper that might remain inside the device. If not all the pieces of paper are removed from the device, paper jams are likely to occur again later.
  4. Replace the rear access door or the two-sided printing accessory.
  5. Restart the printer to continue the current job.

Paper jamed

Sounds like the fuser is causing the jam. Anything from a dislocated pic finger to other paper debry can be causing these types of jams.
If you open the back door, will the page exit the printer fine of does it still jam?
If it still jams the fuser is definatly the problem. If it dosen't, then it might be the delivery assembly causing the jam.
You might be able to see where the jam is happening if you print something and watch it though the back to see where the paper catches and jams.
