my mistake it is just 5 and1/2 years old

after unplugging the circut board on the bottom of the tv and pulling it out to look for somthing bad i put it back together and plugged it in and it worked just fine. i give the glory to god as i did nothing but take the tv apart and put it back together again.hope this helps as i had nothing to lose it was broken any way.i also learned that even the most expensive tvs out there today are built to fail in a couple of years. the old cathode ray tube tvs are still the best thing out there. let this be a warning to you when buying a new set. gl2u all.

Samsung lcd went pink as we were watching. turned it off and on, still same.

Pink picture indicates a failure of the light engine. This has to be repaired by a qualified electronic repair tech. This is a common issue on some models. Have you tried to adjust color? if the color won't adjust then the light engine is in need or repair.

42" Rear Projection color issue

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs.

Color alignment problem

You will need to put the unit into wahts called service mode because it will have to totally realigned since you change the whole module you changed the chip that had you stored memory setting for convergence called an EEPROM. here in the shop I would unsolder the old EEPROM and put it on the new BOARD. Also on most models you don't have adjustments for the green you have to move red and blue to match green. Imay want you to describe again to me what you can adjust now with the new board in the unit can you move all colors left right and up/down

Tv wouldn't turn on, unplugged convergence board, turned on, replaced STKs, still have convergence problem

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

HCM4215W Green convergence problem

Hi Greg,
Sounds like you have a bad convergence chip in the convergence board. Unfortunatly, about 80% of the rear projection sets I work on have this similar problem. I suggest that you change both chips ( there are 2 of the same ) and remember to use heat sink compound as this is why you not have the problem ( excessive heat destoys electronic components). Good Luck
