SOURCE: Ethernet driver problem - IBM NetVista m42

Once you download the drivers, they are placed in a folder called IBMtools on your root directory C drive. The drivers do not install automatically like most conventional driver downloads. You have to go into the control panel and click on Performance and Maintenance then click on System. When the System Properties window opens click on Hardware, then device manager. The devices for which the driver needs to be installed will have an exclamation point over them. Right click on the device you want to install and click update driver. It will ask you if you want to use windows update to which you can reply NO, especially if you are trying to update the network adapter (in that case you have no internet connection so windows update will not work). Click Next and select the option to Install from a specific location and click next. When that window opens Select the option to search for the best driver in these location. Check the box to Include this location in the search and Click Browse. You should browse to the folder that contains the driver you downloaded. For example most likely it will be C:\IBMTOOLS\Drivers\xxxxxx. xxxx is the name of the file driver you downloaded. Refer back to the IBM site if you forgot the name or click on my computer and navigate to the ibmtools/drivers folders to find it. Once you have the xxxxx replaced just click next and voila it will start installing the driver.

the driver could be on the motherboard disk or the one supplied by your ISP internet service supplier or you might need to download it

Driver de internet dell

Let me get my spanish going. There's no such thing as a Internet Driver. What is happening with your system? What happens when you click on Internet Explorer? You might have a connection problem instead of a driver problem.

I think you mean Network Driver. On the Dell Optiplex GX270 the NIC or Network Interface Card is standard on the computer. Every computer comes with one. So if you plug a network cable from your modem or router into the network card on the back of the computer it should light up if it's working. If it's not working you need to purchase a network card. Click Start/Control Panel/Network Connections and see if it says connected. If it does right click on it and select properties, then select the option near the bottom of the window that says "show icon in the notification area when connected" and click OK. Now if you look at the bottom right near the time you should see a computer with green lights on it. That means it's connected.

Assuming the card is there and lights up then that means your drivers are already loaded. But if by some freak chance they were not there you'll need an internet connection to go to google and type in the search "dell support" ( without the quotes). Look for drivers and downloads. Give it your computer model Dell Optiplex GX270 and your operating system. Download and install the driver.

I bought a wireless card for my Compaq Presario 5000 Series 5WV280 with Windows ME. It came with a disk, that gave me a program, and say's it recognizes my wireless router and is connected. But when I...

The issue is that you have to install the card and its driver ..Look on that disk ..and see if it has a driver on it ..Run the driver and install teh card ..restart the computer ..and go to network places..In there look for teh wireless connection ..That will be the card you installed .click right on it ..and select either to see networks available ..or to enable first ..It should appear in the task bar in the working programs area in the right tray ..In there click right and see the available networks..identify your router and connect to it ..
In short ..this is a device like any other ..and needs a driver . to work ..after that ..you have nothing to do with the other available connections in the computer but only with the card ..You need a wireless network available ..either a router connected with your ISP ..or another network you share ..with others or a free internet hot spot ..in the area..
When the card is installed and working ..you have to access the networks from it by scanning for them ..

Hi,

Improve the Fixya.com experience for everyone by voting!

The solution I'm suggesting works in my business (LAN installations) about 95% of the time. I trust that it will work for you.

Let's see if I can help you.

Begin by turning on your computer and your router

? Make sure your service provider has activated your account and services on the subscribed line. Please check with your service provider to confirm this.
? Make sure that you are using the latest drivers. You can download the latest driver from Driver Downloads Database.
? Make sure that you have entered the right username and password (case-sensitive) as given by your service provider. For example, in Australia: user@bigpond; in NZ: [email protected].
? Open Internet Explorer;
? Click on 'Tools';
? Click on 'Internet Options';
? Click on 'Connections';
? Click on 'Setup'
? Click on 'I want to set up my Internet connections manually . . .';
? Click on 'Next';
? Click on 'I connect through a local area network (LAN);
? Clock on 'Next'
? Click on 'Next' [This is not an error];
? Click on 'No';
? Click on 'Next';
? Click on 'To connect to the Internet immediately . . .; and,
? Click on 'Finish'.

That should have you online. However, if it doesn't get you on line, do the following: Click on tools again. Click on 'Diagnose Connection Problems' and follow the instructions.

The last choice is to use the Setup Wizard. It seldom works for me but you might more luck than poor me. Here are the instructions:

The Connect to the Internet wizard will guide you through the steps of setting up an Internet connection.

Open the Connect to the Internet wizard by:

ā€¢ Clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button
ā€¢ Click on Control Panel.
ā€¢ In the search box, type network,
ā€¢ Click "Network and Sharing Center"
ā€¢ Click Set up a new connection or network
ā€¢ Then double-click "Connect to the Internet".

All the best

Just installed xp for a friend on an old ibm netvista 6794 NZU pc. Went to ibm website but can not find the motherboard or chipset drivers to allow this pc to acess the internet. Can anyone help please. ...

It's a big pain when you dont have the right driver. but try this:

1. download and install the Windows Service Pack 3 (XP SP 3) in the computer and check if it works.

and how are you trying to connect to the internet? you might just want to put in an extra PCI network card, if you want to use the broadband or if you need the usb ports to work, try a PCI USB card instead.

either ways, make sure you have installed SP3 in that computer.

cheers!

I can't Get the Drivers i need i don't know where to look!!!!!!

S129 "A"? Found nothing on Tohiba web site, but this must be S129 or S1291. Go to:
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp
and choose your model (there is a label on the bottom with the correct model number, right?).
When you choose "Show results" you will end up in a page where you can get drivers and manuals.

No Network Driver Load When I install Win XP Pro...

please check the IP Address i.e,
go to
Control Panel
Network Connections
Local Area Connection (Right Click On it)
Properties
Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) Properties
See whether the
IP Address,Subnet Mask,Gateway,DNS Server Address
is entered properly or not

if it is entered properly go to Command Prompt type the following
Ping ip address and ping gateway address and DNS address
if both are getting reply then connectivity is there no reply means
either the cable not plugged or else cable not poper i.e, RJ 45 Cable (Network cable)

if still not solved try to get the solution from the vendor or else friends or any computer technician nearby to u r home because until some one has to come over there and understand the problem then only we can solve the problem .

Sorry i thought it was a driver problem so therefore i gave the link for drivers
