Is there anyone out there who might be able to assist? The problem is, the monitor on my comp has suddenly become very loose. The monitor will now not stay in a set position, it either closes or opens completely flat. this problem occurred out of the blue with no warning. I have NOT dropped or damaged the laptop. I have looked as far as I can to see if there are any adjustment screws, but these seem to be lacking.
It would be a shame to bin the laptop at this stage as it has been, up until now, very reliable. the repair costs at a dealers far outway the value of the laptop.
Thankyou in advance to anyone who can assist.
You need new hinges for the screen. Im trying to source some hinges but having difficulty. Maybe purchasing a nackered laptop with good hinges on a popular auction website might be an option. How much were you quoted?

Does the display show anything before you enter windows? If yes, then press the key to transfer video back to your original screen once you enter windows. It should be the function key "Fn" + F5 - F8. looks for the icon which shows a monitor or says "CRT/LCD".
If it doesn't show anything before you enter windows I'm afraid your screen needs to be replaced. Good luck.
There should be a setting within the comp. Is it connected to the comp monitor and the tv? Perhaps from the comp to the tv with the monitor from the comp as well? Well if so, you may need a certain setting within the comp. Check under (on xp) display properties, and then under the settings tab. Please rate!
