Click start control panel administrative tools computer management then select event viewer depending on what operating sytem you have this may vary
extend the events there you will ((see errors in red)) you will no what exactly what the error was and at what time it occured

you might be able work your way through the problem
if it's a program file you might uninstall the program restart your computer then reinstall some of these files/software

hope this helps

SOURCE: External Hard Drive will not post "Cavalry Storage CAUI35160 Hard Drive"

Hey there koskinen. It appears that your problem is one of several possibilities. I would first suggest that you ensure your hard drive is formatted correctly. This will need to be done to allow your computer to read it properly. You can do this to a secondary drive using the "computer management" selection found from your "My Computer" page. Follow prompts. If the external is not recognized, try installing it internally on your ribbon as a slave drive. Second, the main issue is to ensure your connection inside the external is properly seated, as is the power connection. Next ensure all external connections to the box are properly seated. Lastly, ensure your connection to the computer is a valid working port. Please plug another device into the port you are using to ensure it works.

SOURCE: My Cavalry 1TB hard drive

The HDD is probably in working condition, however the enclosure may be damaged. You can remove the hdd inside the cavalry storage enclosure, and if you have a desktop install it in the desktop to get your data off of it. You may instead wish to purchase a new hdd enclosure which can be bought online from many websites such as http://ncix.com or newegg.com

Hi there, It sounds like your network administrator has locked your ability to write to certain folders. If this is a home hard drive, the only way to fix this would be to completely reinstall windows. If it's a work computer, you need to talk to your IT Department. -Alex
