I am printing a barcode lable 2 across and a small label 3 across about 1x1.5cm. But each time I have to change it I have to calibrate the machine. It will work if i disable the rewind function. Is there any way to keep the rewind funtion and be able to print with out calibrating?
Check your label size under printer preferences.
Hi
I assume you have the transmissive sensor positioned so that it finds the label edge for both label types. i.e.the sensor is not looking at the vertical gap.
I also assume that the backing paper for both label types, if the liners are different then the sensor may be struglling to get adequate light through varing papers.
I would try to do a test print from the printer control panel on both label types. this will identify if it is indeed a sensor problem. If it work well through printer text, then the only remaining thing to look at would be the software/driver settings. Make sure the label length, sensor-type is correct for both label formats, and in the driver.

You purchase color laser jet printer dell 1320 and solve the problem
SOURCE: Zebra S600 printer continues calibrating
The factory default settings for the S600 is to auto calibrate every time the printhead is closed and every time the power is cycled. If the media sensor is not positioned correctly for the media you are using the label size will not be detected during a calibration. You mentioned the media has no markings, doe sthe media have a space between the labels? If so, the media sensor may not see the gap in the labels adn therefor is not calibrating properly or not calibrating at all. Check the media sensor position. I have found that the media sensor must be at least 1" from the inner wall of the printer so it doesn't see the edge of the backing in oder to read the size of the labels.

You need to run the internal media sensor calibration setup that is built into the menu. This can take a few minutes but will solve this problem. The machine needs to be setup for the media you are running. This is no fun if you have to change a lot during a day and each media type has diferent qualities. It ususually happens when you are using labels from one manufacturer and then switch to a diferent brand. The backing material has diferent characteristics that the machine needs to be setup to be able to handle.

you can calibrate from printer driver .Go to printing preference select advanced setup and select Calibrate
Or you can calibrate from printer.go to menu in the printer and select media and ribbon calibration it will calibrate ribbon and label
SOURCE: how to stop calibrating soo much?
Lancer is right...you have to calibrate for each size but you can minimize the number labels and shorten the calibration sequence by changing a setting called MAXIMUM LENGTH. Press the setup key and click to the max length setting. The default is 39 inches so the printer actually checks for a label that is possibly 39 inches tall. Change this setting to whatever your tallest label is (min setting is 2 inches). This will at least shorten the calibration cycle.
Hope that helps !

I couldnt find the internal media sensor calibration setup in the menu to run it.
The media has space between the labels. I moved the senseor so that it was 1" from the wall and tested the labels.
They both work fine now without having to run the media and ribbon calibration everytime i change them
