My one did exactly the same after one day of use. the shop replaced it for me and so far all is well apart from the clicking noise in the backround on video playback.

SOURCE: When I try to turn on my FinePix A600 is beeps, the lens comes out, the light on the back flashes yellow, then it flashes red, the lens goes back in and the camera turns off. I bought a second FinePi

I'm curious....the camera came out in 2006....how did you buy a second one?...and more importantly, why? If something doesn't work, the first thing people do isn't to go out and buy another one. Anyway, from your description, the problem seems to lie with the cards, not the camera. All memory cards must be formatted (sometimes called "initialized") in the camera before use and regularly after downloading the pics to the computer. This erases the card and brings it back to original condition so download any pics you want to save using a separate cardreader if necessary and then, format/initialize them in the camera. Also, how old are these cards?....they don't last forever.

Turn off camera and turn back on will not go away

I guess your camera has the message turn off the camera and turn on again.
This message will occur when the camera has any malfunction. Could be caused because you obstructed the lens while focusing or zooming. Could be lots of other things.
If the switching is not enough and you observed the lens is retracting complete when switching off. Please remove the battery for a little while. Perhaps you could use the time to recharge the battery. Then when you replace the battery and the camera still gives this error, there is only one thing you can do: Please contact a FujiFilm dealer.

Tells me to turn off and back on

Fujifilm finepix s2980 says turn camera off and turn it back on. Sounds silly but someone on here said drop camera from about 2to 3 foot on to carpeted ground, and mine started working again. something to do with lens gears not engaging. and the impact was enough to ironically make it re-engage. Thanks just saved £55 cost of camera and proberly more if I was to sent it for repair.

Is compatible with SDXC & support 64GB?

No. The S2980 works with SD cards (up to 2GB) and SDHC cards (up to 32GB). It does not work with SDXC cards.
