When pushing the power button on the front of tv, to turn on, hear a split second sound from speakers, Video head (carousel) just moves ever so slightly one direction. Push the power again, same sound, carousel slightly moves opposite direction. Push a vcr tape into it and push the power button at the same time. sound from speakers, carousel takes off at full speed, kicks vcr tape out, then shuts down. All in a matter of 5-10 secs.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !!!!

SOURCE: Emerson TV won't stay on
I am currently have the same problem . I just got off the phone with the support tech and he suggested unplugging TV for about 5 minutes and if that doesnt work to unplug TV for about 2 hours. He said that may reset the TV . I am waiting now. If it works , I will leave feedback.
SOURCE: Emerson EWC 1302 Tv/VCR combo shuts down
I've seen problems like this with 2 tv/vcr combo sets before. in my case each time the sensors in the machine think there's a tape jammed, and it shuts down to prevent damage. if tihs is what's going on it should actually say onscreen that it's trying to eject a tape, whether there's one in or not.
WARNING: this fix may get the tv working again, but the vcr will not be usable.
if this is what you're seeing then step one would be to remove the tape (assuming there's one there at all), now turn it back on and see that: THIS DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING! that's where step 2 comes in, you need to probe around a bit, in my case this was very much a trial and error thing, and find which mechanical parts are in the wrong positions. you want everything in the position it should be with a tape ejected. with this done you should be able to turn the tv on without getting the eject message and having the tv turn off.
