The darker images have red dots in the lower 6 inch band of screen across the bottom. they are not always present, only with gray or darker images. Called Samsung and they're going to dispatch a local technician. Will see what happens..
The Samsung Field Engineer came out to my house and adjusted the vscan voltage to get the red dots out of the Gray/Darker colors. This is a typical adjustments for some plasma's and was painless from my perspective. Most of the time for this fix was taking all the screws from the back panel off and on to get to the adjustment. This was all covered under warranty (including labor). Please post back your findings if possible. My Samsung S5053 is doing the same thing (a burst of red dots in the lower part of the screen) that eventually clears up, but then I end up with a rainbow of shimmering dots that outline images on the screen. My TV is mounted to the wall so I wonder if a service person would have a much harder time repairing it. I also don't want my unit hauled to a shop only to have the issue come back a week later. Please post back your findings if possible. Did you get this problem resoslved? I had the same issue a few months ago. I tech came by and took my TV to the shop, a few days later he said it was fixed as they needed to make some adjustments.....The TV has been fine up until a week or so ago and now the red dots have appeared again. Was wondering what happened to yours.

Unless you see more red dots, this kind of "defect" is under specifications for this size of PDP, if you do not like it, the PDP module must be changed
If the dots are red and green, that's normal. Just enjoy your hd picture. actually, I think the dots make it look clearer. The only time I can really see them is when the screen is black.
This problem (known as sparkles) can be cured by adjusting the ramp control on the Y-Sustain board. If this does not cure the dots then there is a software remedy for the control board which an LG repair centre could fix. Failing that a replacement board is required. The orbitor & whitewash are like screen savers to help to prevent a screen burn from a permanently displayed image.

Faults to all LCD & Plasma screen are similar, irrespective of its brand and screen size.
You can get rid of the red dots by adjusting the V-scan voltage down, it's on the panel sticker inside the unit, you can find the test point on the DC to DC pcb, and the adjustment pot is on the same board, lower it as you watch the screen and only lower it enough to rid the screen of the dots
