I am very desapointed with this Plasma TV. We bought it in Noverber, 24, 2006 and we were very happy with it. My wife and me were watching TV and enjoying a TV program when suddenly the screen turned completely black!!! We still get audio, but no picture at all!!! We tried all the sugestions from Haier America website and from other forums, but nothing worked!!!
How is this possible????????????????
It has been only 22 days since we bought it!!! we bought it as our x-mas present for ourself and now we are so disapointed with our purchase :(
We have been reading on the net and it seems to be a defect that many people has gone trough!!! Seems like they have to replace some components to fix it...
HOW CAN THEY SALE A TV TO PEOPLE WHEN THEY KNOW VERY WELL IT WILL FAIL??????????
I guess the best way to save money is not by buying low priced brands!!!
I will never buy a Haier tv again, and I am going to get my money back!!!
Now our x-mas is ruined and we wasted 6 hours waiting in line at the store for nothing!!!
That is all I wanted you to know....
My experience with a Haier Plasma 42EP24S is that they have weak software chip that goes bad and can cause a number of symptoms from picture with no sound, will not recognize video inputs, or my current problem tv turns on and off irratically. This is the second time i have replace this chip, which is the socketed chip on the vga/component/dvi input circuit card. Last time i had this problem i ended up fixing it myself because sears took over 3 weeks and still could not figure out the problem. I am working on obtaining this chip, probally get about a dozen so if anyone thinks this may fix there problem as well i my have some for sale. [email protected] of Malobicky Digital Systems.

Don't have an eeprom chip except the one that I removed when the upgrade kit was installed. However it was working fine. My problem was the Z-SUS board. If your chip is burnt and you'd like the one I have, I'll be happy to send it to you. I suggest though that you do get the kit on order or it's going to continue to be a pain in the a--!
You need the upgrade kit - make Sears come out and order it for you - they know all about it, claim that the monitor should have been recalled. Mine was out of warranty, however I convinced them to fix the TV.
Mine did the same thing, I called Haier and reprted the problem. there is some kind of kit to remedy the problem where 3 boards are replaced. The repair performed by Sears service center was in home and cost me nothing for parts or a sevice call. Sadly now the monitor is working agin but with some interference of some kind. I called Sears service and they are coming back.
