My washing machine did the same thing. Stopped at 11 minutes and would spin but not drain the water out. No money spent just time. I took the front panel off and back in the right hand corner is a drain that has 2 hose clips on. Take them off and look inside the white plastic part connecting this and inside you will proubly find money wedged up in their. I had several various change in their but the one was the 2 nickels that was lodged perfectly in their that would not allow the water to pump out. After I removed them and put it back works perfectly.

Maytag model MAH8700AWW has a nd error.

If you have cleaned the drain pump of your Maytag washer model MAH8700AWW and it is still leaving a small amount of water in the tub after the drain cycle, this may be causing the nd error to show up.
One thing you can do is to check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or obstructed, as this can also cause the washer to not drain properly. If the drain hose is clear and there is still water remaining in the tub after the drain cycle, you may need to check the drain pump itself to make sure it is working properly.
It is also possible that there could be a problem with the water level switch or the control board, but you have mentioned that the board tests good according to the troubleshooting book included with the washer.
If you have tried these steps and the issue persists, it may be necessary to consult a professional technician to diagnose and repair the issue with your Maytag washer.

Washer Flashing Error Code ND; door won't open after turning washer off

Hello,

The ND error code means NO DRAIN. ,

The usually reason the door remains locked once the cycle is over is because the filter screen on the drain pump is blocked so not all the water could drain out...the door lock is tied into the pump and until the pump tells the control board that the wate r is out the door will not unlock. This tip i wrote will show ya how to take apart the washer to clean the filter on the pump.

Tub filled with water, Lr code

To pump out the excess tub water while failing to complete spin cycle;

Enter Service Mode by simultaneously pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00”

Pressing the Delicates key will lock the lid. Now press the Presoak key the drain pump will turn on. Stop with off button or hit the Presoak key.

This process is documented in the Service Manual. I would go to page 16 of the SM lower right hand part of page, Board Output Test and turn on the drain pump in service mode to pump out the tub.

If I could ask you to do a little troubleshooting;

It sounds like the wash/agitate cycle completes and you enter into the spin cycle of the selected wash cycle is that correct. When the wash cycle fails does the Cycle Status LED indicate that the washer is in the Spin cycle?

With a empty wash basket no wash load in the basket and you start a Spin Only cycle will the Spin Only cycle complete?

If the washer will start the cycle do you hear and loud Spin Only cycle noise such as metal against metal grinding noise?

With the washer off and no clothes in the wash basket can you open the lid then Spin the wash basket as fast as you can in the CCW direction the only direction. The wash basket should spin CCW several rotations and coast down to a smooth stop dose it?

I’m checking for Outer Tub increased bearing resistance…..Rich

Hey Jerry,

It’s a $1K machine and I feel fairly easy to work on…. But like most machines has its problems. Does the ND error code display after emptying the washer of water? If so I think you may have a stuck pressure switch.

Any other error codes?

Maytag neptune top loader-will not start

Hello tinagomez479,

Some basic questions for troubleshooting;
Your machine type is a FVA6800AW/FAV9800AW correct?

Any errorcodes to the console?

Can you tell me what this action was for? “”We took it apart and cleaned it and put it back together and it worked good for about 5 loads then the water stopped draining and now it won't start again.”” Was this a Clutch clean up for dc/UC errors?

Does the clicking noise come from the console area like relays clicking or down below where the clutch pulley is located?

When you press the start button do the lid locks lock the lid?

Can you enter into Service Mode? If so can, can you turn on the drain pump for me? This will let us know if the Control Board is at least functioning in Service Mode and will take commands.

Go to page 16 of the Service Manual lower right hand part of page, Board Output Test and turn on the drain pump in service mode and see if the drain pump motor runs.

Here is the process; close the lid and enter the Service Mode by pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00” Pressing the Delicates key will lock the lid. Now press the Presoak key the drain pump will turn on do you hear it run? Stop the test as the SM states with the off button or hit the Presoak key.

You mentioned it stopped draining, if the Control Board will take the command in Service Mode we can at least get rid of any standing water in the wash tub. When it stopped draining in the wash cycle did you take any error codes to the console like “ND”

Can you also try a Spin Only cycle and see if that will start and complete?

If you can’t do anything at the console pull the 120VAC power plug to the washer for 10 seconds then re-power up and try all above again.

Error codes are very helpful so please let me know what if any error codes you take to the console with your machine issue.

Maytag fav6800aww not draining

Are you taking an “ND” error to the display? Good job on checking for the clog from the sump cap to the input to the drain pump and out the drain pump to the drain pipe. The sump cap is sort of semi transparent if you shine a flash light on it do you see any restrictions? I had half of a bank card stuck in mine. This the sump cap item 9 of the parts view.

I would try to turn on the drain pump in service mode and see if you hear it spin up. I guess the impeller could be jammed up. So let’s try that first. I post these links constantly for support so disregard if you have them. Link to Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

If the drain pumps sounds like it turns on I would put in a bucket of water in the wash basket and see how the output stream looks out of the drain hose when you turn on the Drain Pump in service mode. I get about a 2.5" vertical lift of the output stream from the drain pump.

Code nd FAV6800AWW, Serial number 10

Hello HopelessR,
Don’t buy a clutch I don’t feel it’s a clutch issue at this point. I hope you can hang in there for some basic troubleshooting. I’m an owner like you not a repair person but I have worked some issues. I feel with the info supplied that you have a true “nd” alarm. The “nd” alarm is triggered when the washer fails to drain completely as monitored by the pressure switch input to the control board and the factory program time limit required for draining the washer. I have never experienced an “nd” alarm until this evening. This was a user induced “nd” failure by pumping wash water back into the tub during the drain cycle of Quick Wash cycle. I started a Quick Wash cycle with no clothes in the washer and with the remaining three settings set to min settings. At the 22 min mark the washer started the drain pump and began a slow spin CCW of the wash basket. It took several minutes of pumping wash water back into the wash tub to trigger “nd” alarm. The washer indicated time stayed at the 21 min mark until the “nd” alarm triggered. 1st test; could you start a Quick Wash cycle with what you would consider a full wash load with the settings I mentioned and let’s see what the results are. I don’t feel you have a clutch issue with no dc/UC error codes to the console. I believe at this point that you have a drain restriction problem. I can’t explain why the washer completes the cycle with the wash basket empty at this point. The 2nd test, do you have a deep sink you can pump the wash water into and observe the stream output? The stream my FAV6800AWW will produce is about a 3” vertical column of water out of the drain pipe held over the deep sink with the drain pump running and no clothes in the wash basket. If you have a deep sink and a helper that can turn on the drain pump in service mode as outlined below we can compare your drain pump output to mine.
You can turn on the drain pump in Service Mode with the process below.
1. Enter Service Mode by pressing both the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys simultaneously until the washer beeps.

2. Next you need to go into the Board Output Test by pressing the Delicates key; your display should now read “ot”.

3. Now press the Presoak key this will start the drain pump and it should begin to empty the tub.

You can press the Off button to stop the drain pump.
If the output stream is low we can troubleshoot the restriction starting at the Sump Cap Item 9 and work back toward the drain pump.
I’ll hang in there with you if you want to continue to troubleshoot the issue. Maybe we can get some suggestions from other forum members. Rich

What does the code ND mean?

ND - No Drain
Machine control board monitors water level in washer during and at the end of pump out. If wash level does not reset pressure switch, it will see water left in the washer.

1.Check for pump/drain restriction.

2.Check pump operation.

3.Check pressure switch for open contacts.

4.Check inputs and outputs at machine control board.

5.Replace responsible component.
