Boot problems I have a Presario x6000 that will not boot up. I am unable to even see the error screen long enough to read the code, but, it's something like this- 0x82 DCD 838. Any ideas?

When you boot up your notebook, keep pressing F8; this will take you into safe mode. Look down the list for 'LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION', and highlight and press enter. You notebook will then re-boot and hopefully start as normal, if not come back to this post.

My X6000 show vertical strips all along in the LCD screen. What could be the problem?

It could possibly be the video driver for the machine.

It could also be a loose connection between the screen and the motherboard.

Is this a consistent problem?
If not, when do the lines appear and for how long?

Can I get a presario to boot vga output only?

Yes you can go ahead and use an external moniter to use your notebook but reformating would not help. try to go to HP.COM nad get the graphis driver and bios updated still if its the same you need to contact HP and they would take it for repair, however if it is not in warranty then they would charge you, for repair,since the graphics card is always embedded with the motherboard it will not be possible to replace it on your own. you can also check the repair prices in local stores.

Checked my RAM and I still get one beep code and the laptop will not boot, it just starts to boot and I get one beep with nothing on the screen..? HELP...!?

it is doing so because of the faulty keyboard ..pls see the backspace button is stuck or not ..you can clean the keyboard by removing it ..

My compaq presario is not charging and I bought a new charger for it and it still wont stay on for longer than a min it just cuts off if I fiddle with the power cord a little the screen changes from a dim...

common problem,power cord gets pulled on accidently,causes plug inside computer to pull loose from the motherboard.will need to disassemble,then usually just touching the connections with a soldering iron to remelt them is enough to fix it,leave this to qualified tech.or if under warranty then send for repair hope this helps ,aloha from maui todd0708

Laptop screen turns white

You can put your laptop on top of a icepack, cause your Graphics card is probably getting to hot. Thats why your screen turns white(probably only when gaming).
It is likely one of your fans is broken
