The damper door assy located in the upper left corner just left of the water filter of the refrigerator compartment probably has a broken damper door shaft on one side and has jammed in this position, this is very common with G.E. SxS I have glued these shafts back together with good success, but you may want to just replace it

SOURCE: Side by side refrig./freezer does not cold.

Are the heat exchange coils behind or under the refrigerator clean?
Are the fans running smoothly? Check for bent blades and bend them back if necessary.
Is the evaporating pan under the refrigerator dry.? Then the drain of the defroster may be blocked. Unblock with a steam generator or a long plastic tube.

SOURCE: freezer side working reefer side warm ge side by

There is a vent that gets clogged. The easiest way to fix it is to let it thaw for 24 hours (open-48 would be better). This is much ceaper that calling for a tech. Cold air from the freeezer is what keeps the fridge side cold.

SOURCE: model tfh22prsa GE Side-by-side freezer ok refrigerator warm

There are 3 things to look for on the TFH22PRSAAA refrigerator when this happens. First we need to have a look inside the rear of the freezer and see is there is frost build up on the rear back panel that covers the evaporator. If yes you the next thing to do is look inside the fresh food compartment for the defrost timer located behind the control panel as shown in the photo below. I want you to turn the defrost timer clockwise until the compressor motor and fans stop. The refrigerator should be in the defrost mode now. Open the freezer door and listen for crackling and sizzling cause by the defrost heater being on. If there is no sounds or changes the you need to let me know. The timer should turn the refrigerator back on after 25 minutes. If not simply turn the timer again slowly clockwise until the compressor restarts. If you need to do this you will need to replace the defrost timer because the timer is no longer running as a timer and has become defective. I am going to stop here because I don't want you to think this is too hard to do It's easy to do these test and I will be here to assist you. Let me know when you are ready or if you fell you have it under control please rate my solution when were finished the repair, Thanks, Sea Breeze

The freezer is cold, the fridge is warm, and the fan in the back of the freezer is running.

Hello,

Ya got 2 possible thing that will cause that

1) the damper in the upper left corner of the refrig.compartment is stuck closed so no cold air can enter from the freezer into the fresh food compartment,by placing your up to that damper their should be some (not a lot) of air flowing through it. If not it is stuck closed

2) its not defrosting in the freezer so the freezer coil where all cold air is made is totally one huge block of frost again causing air flow into the fresh food compartment to be cut off.Do you see frost build up on the back wall of the freezer?? if so this link describes what to check http://www.fixya.com/support/r10097882-wrong_when_freezer_frosted_refrig_warm

GE ARTIC PROFILE REFRIGERATOR....INTERMITTENT HEATING

Sarct, the question is, was the freezer side ok, if it was, I would suspect the damper not opening. If the freezer side was warm too, then I would suspect the evaporator thermistor not sending the signal to the board to terminate the defrost. Have the tech first check the continuity at connector J3. He should have 400ohms at J3-1 to J3-2 and the same at J3-3 to j3-4. If he doesn't get those readings have him check at the damper motor itself. If he doesn't have it there, replace the damper motor. If the damper motor passes all the checks then it's on to the evaporator thermistor. Have him check the resistance. At 5 degrees it should ohm at approx 36K ohms. The evap thermostat is redundant to the defrost operation. It's there as a back up in the event the evap thermistor fails to terminate the defrost. It's normally closed and will open at 140 degrees.

GE Profile french door refrig not cooling but freezer is cold

your damper vent door is not opening to let the freezers cold air in to the refrigerator compartment, its located between the refrige and freezer, also make sure the evaporator fans are running to move the cold air

ZFSB26DRESS water runs warm and freezer not staying cold.

It sounds like the condenser coils , the coils by the compressor , need cleaned badly . This (and the compressor cooling fan) , can cause the compressor to cut off on overload (due to the heat) , thereby not circulation refrigerant thru out the freezer coils .
The water line goes from inside the freezer door ( cold ) , under the refrig ( warm ) , then to the inside refrig water reservoir ( cold ) . After that , you should get cold water , until the reservoir is drained of cold water .

Refrigerator is staying at 50 degrees, will not get any cooler

May be your computer board, not turning on the defrost heaters in the freezer section. The freezer will eventually get warm too. Are you getting frost build-up on the rear wall of the freezer? If you are, you can temporarily solve the problem by turning off the whole refrige for a day and open up the freezer door- put towels on the floor under the freezer doors. Then turn it back on - mine worked fine again. I am currently waiting for a computer board replacement. It is behind the metal plate on the back (outside) of the cabinet. Good luck.

You may have a double problem. One, you state that the damper stays shut. if the box is running 50 degrees, it should be wide open, My question is, do you think because that there is no air from the damper that it is closed? The usual problem on these units is that it is not defrosting and the evap coil gets blocked with ice. This will cause an air flow problem to the ref side, although the freezer seems to work. The most likely cause is a bad defrost heater. If not, then possible a bad damper if it is not opening.

WARM REFRIGERATOR

Sounds like the damper isn't opening. Put you hand on the Left wall of the fridge side, at the top. If you feel No Air. Then there is your issue. Bad Damper Motor. Also check the back wall of the freezer, there sould be No Frost. If there is then you have a defrost issue. Not a damper problem. One more thing. Make sure when you shut the fridge door, the light goes out. About a half inch or so before the door is completly shut, the light will go out, if not then thats your issue. Let me know how you make out.

well if you keep that damper open im sure everything in your refrig- will freeze is the temp- in the freezer o.k. if you have an ice maker is it working properly because if your freezer does not maintain the right temp your ice maker wont work. if so you might have a bad temp control (thermostat)
