How can i connect my hp pavillion s5610y to my bravia tv

This is a bit complicated since there is no HDMI output capability to the PC, only VGA and DVI. First, check to see if the Bravia has one of its HDMI ports listed as DVI capable. If it does, it should have accompanying audio jacks (red/white) for it. What you would need to get is two different cables for interface. The first is a DVI-to HDMI cable to run from the PC DVI port to the Bravia DVI-compatible HDMI port. You cannot run the DVI to a regular HDMI port because if you do you will get only picture and no sound. DVI outputs, unlike HDMI outputs, do not carry the audio signal. A DVI-compatible HDMI port on a TV set will connect the video from the HDMI port and the audio from the reserved audio port accompanying it. The second cable you need will be a mini stereo audio plug to RCA jacks. This will connect between the PC audio out (green), and the DVI audio plugs on the set. See pictures for cables below

Once you have this done, selecting the appropriate HDMI port on the set should result in audio and video getting to the unit. If you only need the video (you are going to use the PC speakers), then you don't need the audio cable and you can use any HDMI port, but you cannot control the volume using the TV set remote. You would need to use the PC volume settings. (Just as an afterthought if the set has no DVI-compatible HDMI port).

NEC PX-50XM4A 50" plasma tv - I get a picture but no sound. I have my cable box plugged in to the DVI port converted to HDMI going to my cable box but I cant get sound when I plug external speakers in to...

HDMI carries both video and audio.
Do you get video and audio on TV. Just to be sure.
Now are the external speakers powered ?
are you connecting the Speakers to Audio Out of the TV ?
By the way, I cannot see any RCA port that is output port on your NEC plasma. NEC 50XM4 User Manual Specifications The audio input is for audio from dvd for example.

What type of cords do I need to hook up a akia PDP4273m1 to my cable box

Which cable box are you trying to connect to the PDP4273m1? The best choice of cable will depend on the outputs available on the cable box. If your cable box has HDMI (looks like a rectangle with small cutouts on one long side) out, get an HDMI (type A on both sides) video cable and connect it between that port and the TV's HDMI in. (This connection doesn't require an extra audio cable.) If your cable box has a DVI (out, get a DVI to HDMI adapter and the HDMI cable (or a DVI to HDMI cable). Connect the DVI side to the cable box and then the HDMI cable to the TV Then get an RCA audio cable (two male ends on each side, usually red and white). Connect this to the audio out jacks on the cable box and to the DVI audio in ports on the TV.

If you do not have either of those outputs, check for a component video/audio output. Get the component video cable (with 3 RCA plugs on each end - red, blue and green) and an RCA audio cable. Match the colors on each side as you connect the devices.

If those aren't available, the S-video or composite video cables will work. The composite video cable comes with the audio connectors (red, white, yellow RCA plugs). They aren't part of the S-video cable and must be obtained separately. These are limited to standard video (no HD) so they are not the best choices with your tv.

If your cable box has SCART out, you will need an adapter for that. Most provide composite or S-video out. See http://www.svideo.com/scart2.html for one of these. Note: you will need to match the adapter to the CART output or get a converter.

The connections should be from the left side: serial port (RS-232 for service), HDMI, digital audio out (for connecting to a home theater receiver), DVI audio In, two component video and audio in, a composite video/audio in and out and an S-video with audio in. The manual for the PDP4273M1 is available from Retrevo here: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Akai-PDP4273M1-TVs-manual/id/741bh140/t/2/ . You will need to enter a code to download the manual.

i hope this helps. Please add a comment with your cable box make/model/provider if you want more help.

(very few TVs come with the A/V cables these days. Some set-top boxes will come with the composite video cables.)

Which accessories are a 'most have' for connecting my TV to a desktop pc?

You'll need:
•VGA cable
•S-Video Audio to 3 RCA Type Adapter Cable
•HDMI cable
•DVI cable
Check the connection options on your TV. If your TV has a VGA connection slot, plug the TV into the computer with a VGA cordlike a computer monitor. Connect one end of the VGA cable to the back of the computer and the other end to the TV. Switch between normal TV viewing to displaying your computer on your TV by selecting the proper mode from the remote control, some remotes will mark the proper mode as "VGA" while others will label it "Computer" or "PC."
Check the back of your computer to see if you have an S cable slot. Connect S cable portion of the S-Video Audio to 3 RCA Type Adapter Cable to the computer and plug in the green audio plug to the audio port of the PC. Plug the red white and yellow RCA cables into the matching colors of the RCA slots on the TV. With this method you will need to switch modes from TV to video.
Check the back of the computer and TV for either DVI or HDMI slots. The slots on your computer must match, you cannot connect a DVI to a HDMI. Plug one end of the corresponding cable into the the back of the TV and the other end into the computer. Choose the correct program mode, HDMI or DVI, from the remote to view the computer from the TV.

How do you connect the Virgin VHD box to LG RZ32LZ55 TV for getting HD and also the audio. For the audio the V HD box has a optical audio port and a test port ( i am not sure it works!). The TV has a DVI...

All you need is an hdmi-dvi adapter. You will also need a component audio lead to plug into the mini(3.5) jack socket on the tv as dvi does not carry sound. You will need to initially use the scart to set up your tv for hdmi as the menu can only be seen via the scart until you set it up.

Yamaha htr6180 with Motorola HD Cable Box Causes Picture to Blink

Can't be done. Your version of HDMI firmware and hardware in your receiver have "handshake" and "HDCP" incompatability issues that are too costly to fix. Your receiver has version 1.1 HDMI and the current version is 1.3b and soon to be 1.4. HDMI is not to blame though; it's RIAA, the recording industry that keeps changing audio and video codecs to protect against "copyright infringement" It's a ROYAL LOAD of !@#$%^&*. I am in the industry and have been avoiding HDMI at all cost! Too many issues! even with current BLURAY players they are using RJ45's on the back to allow software updates to keep in line with all the new codecs. If you want more info on HDMI and it's many issues; google "HDMI problems" and you can read forever!. Sorry for the bad news, but it is the fact. Hope this at least helps in understanding that there is nothing wrong with your product! it's the recording industry!

Macbook Pro DVI---> HDMI + Digital Optical Out = Problem w/ Sound

On the Sony The HDMI takes "priority" over all others, that's why you loose audio. If you run your DVI/HDMI to the TV and optical to the soundbar that would fix your issue. If your TV does not have Multiple HDMI inputs, you can get a DVI/Component adapter for your MBP then run it to the TV, or, If you have to have HDMI just to have HDMI, you can get a 2:1 HDMI switch and still have optical to your soundbar. Make sense? If youneed more help, just post a comment and I'll help some more.

PS3 hdmi connection

With your PS3 on standby (red light) hold the on/off button down until it goes green and then back to red. This restores your PS3 to "factory settings", i.e. it is waiting for you to tell it how you want it to connect to your TV. Now disconnect any HDMI cables you may be trying to use and connect your PS3 to your TV via a scart connection. Now switch your PS3 on and turn to your AV channel and you should have both sound and pictures.

Hdmi/dvi

Here is the link to the user manual for the TV if you need it; http://www.haier.com/admin/en/product/upload/42EP24S-UM.pdf Check page 7 - The DVI input has next to it an audio input - DVI does not carry audio as HDMI does - you need to plug a seperate mono audio cable from your cable box to the TV at the DVI Audio input (top of page 12). The Audio needs to be in the one next to the DVI socket in order to work at the same time as the picture from the same "source" selection. Check page 18 "CATV Type" and make sure this is set to the correct one for your cable box Check page 21 that all the audio settings are logical and nothing is turned right down or muted. If none of this helps then please post back. What make and model is Your Cable box? Hope this helps :)
