Computer doesnt recognize my camera when I connect it

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

HAVE YOU INSTALLED THE DRIVERS AND SUPPORT SOFTWARE THAT CAME WITH YOUR CAMERA.FIRST INSTALL THEM TO YOUR SYSTEM AND CONNECT THE CAMERA.

Try to just use the Memory card to transfer images to your computer

How have you got a 'new' computer with an unsupported OS installed ?

if u r using xp try this option ..control panel> printers and hardware >scanners and cameras..and try installing the camera from dere keeping it connected...if this doesnt wrk ..chk if ur camera is in the 'mass storage memory' mode..can be found easily in the menu settings..and then connect....if still not recognised...search for the drivers on net

Hi, Most present day digital cameras are recognizable by a Windows PC as an external removable drive. You have to connect the camera using a USB cable (in some case, a firewire cable) to any of the USB ports of your computer. Give your machine a second or two to recognize and auto-install the needed drivers/software. The PC normally auto displays content of the camera (now recognized as possibly drive "E" or something). Thereafter it is a matter of copy/paste or drag-0n-drop to your preferred folder in your PC (more often My Pictures inside My Documents). Hope this be of some help/idea. I need the software for this camera so i can use it with my computer, it will tell me that Philips PJ44432 is an unknown device but doesnt' recognize and wants the cd how do i get it or download it
