My recently bought LG dvd writer ( two in fact) stops writing/burning at 1%, but the strange thing is, it can read cds/ dvds, burn CDs with absolutely no problem. Both the LG dvd writer have exactly the same problem . They works fine ( burning of DVDs/CDs) for the first few months and sudeenly lo!! i had the above mentioned problem. I have taken to the servicing centre, and got it replace, but the problem seems to persists even after that, my local technical man doesn't know the solution to this.
I would be very very thankful to anyone who can fix this.
hi pankaj, thanks . But i have done re-formating of my entire C: drive and re-install the OS. i think the problem is with the LG-DVD writer itself. I took my friend dvd writer and connect it to my pc. it works .... it works, so the problem is with my writer itself.

try to reinstall the driver and update its firmware if available and test other writing software and other brand of Cd or Dvd. if same thing happens, it appears to be with the drive and you'll need to get a replacment for it
first u buy a new lens cleaner for ur pc and run it on ur cd drive den ry to burn a new disk and see it burn or not if same prolem again comes then it is sure dat ur lense sensitivity gets low....
now it is not capable of writing ny thing only capable od read various cds......
if r havin more problems wid ur writer ask me for more solution..
as with all writers eventually they fault at the lens and it gets out of line and cannot read discs, you can try the usual thing of checking LG for any firmware updates, but first:-
Go to my computer>right click>hardware tab>device manager, then down list to cd/dvd drives and click '+' sign and highlight your writer, right click on it and select uninstall.
Restart PC and it will be automatically re installed, try again and if no change you will need to replace the drive as they are cheaper nowadays.
