GE JVM1653 Microwave Oven Logo

Question about GE JVM1653 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Display panel slowly fades out, then comes back on.

Our microwave works great, but the display panel slowly goes out at different times. I noticed that if you slam the door, the display comes back. Is this due to the Smartboard?!?!? Thanks, Normy

This is due to a bad connection which is interrupting power to the control panel. It may be a loose wiring connection prior to the control panel, a failing door switch, or a problem on the control panel. We repair the control panels for $32.50 nationwide. If you or a friend decide to check the wiring, the unit has a technical sheet inside which contains a wiring diagram similar to the one I linked here: http://207.234.2493.73/mwd/JVM1331W_wiring.jpg Also, you can find an exploded view and parts list by entering your model number in the repair parts section here: http://www.geappliances.com/shop/prts/

To be more specific, in most ovens, this problem is most likely to be a loose connection at the wall socket, the thermal cutouts or thermostats, the fuse holder, or at or on the control panel circuit board.

Sounds like your losing power, have you tried it on a completely Different circuit??? Either that or bad fuse or connections inside of microwave.

I have accidentally locked my microwave oven (profile performance convection oven). I was cleaning the front. Can you tell me what to do?

Got you covered. Here you go:

Microwave - Explanation of the Child Lock Out Feature
Many microwave control panels can be locked to prevent accidental use or access by children.
There are two different ways to lock the control panel:
1. Press and hold the CLEAR/OFF pad for 3 seconds. The display will show "LOCK" and then revert to the time of day.
A small "L" will appear in the corner of the display as a reminder that the control panel is locked. If anyone tries to use the microwave, the display will show "LOCK".
2. On some models, press and hold the 5 and 7 pads simultaneously for 3 seconds.
To unlock the control: Repeat the procedure which was used to lock the control. (Press and hold the CLEAR/OFF pad for about 3 seconds or hold the 5 and 7 pad simultaneously for 3 seconds.)

That info is from GE

Hope that does the trick.

Sharp R308np microwave

To my knowledge your chances of finding any technical info on this unit are slim to none. I would replace it. New ovens are very reasonable and have great features.

LCD not working

In most cases, these are VFD type not LCD type. In any case, when a VFD fades over time, that is aging.

Unfortunately, GE does not make the VFD displays available as a separate part, so the only option is to replace the entire "smart board". And they can be expensive at times. But if you do it yourself, you save a lot on labor.

If you or someone you know decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

There should also be a very helpful "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Power Problems on NEFF H7871 Combi Microwave

It would seem there is a bad connection in the fuse holder or in the wall socket or in the microwave itself. Maybe you can narrow it down to the microwave by trying other devices in the wall socket. If it's the microwave, it's time to call for serivce.
