Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Windows media player has the ability to add/remove/manage media on mp3 players, with media player running, plug the mp3 player in and wait for the computer to respond. Media player should ask you if you want to manage songs on your player. Alternatively, the Philips website will have a copy of the software to download. Good luck.
You can't use Limewire directly to transfer songs to the Nextar. You will need to transfer the songs to the Nextar using Windows Media Player. Limewire puts the songs in a folder called "Limewire Downloads" usually. You will need to open Windows Media Player, run the mouse over the "Library" tab, and select "Add to Library." Once the window pops up you will need to add the folder called "Limewire Downloads" - it may take several minutes, but Windows Media Player is going to add all of those Limewire downloads to its own library. Then, you can use Windows Media Player to transfer the songs to the Nextar.
well i just got a new computer and its the New "IMac" and the songs that i try to put on the player dont work... the songs on the player but it wont let you listen to it.. its it becasue of the format... its a mp4 or somthing like that ha
Disable the auto-sync option in Windows Media Player, and then delete the songs again from Windows Media Player. If auto-sync is not disabled, then those songs will never go away.
Here's what happened: When you first synced your GoGear to Windows Media Player, you may have set up the automatic sync option. When this option is selected, Windows Media Player will add EVERY song, picture, etc from your Library on your computer to the GoGear. Now, every time you sync you device, it adds every new file from your computer into the GoGear automatically. It will even delete songs from your GoGear that were on there before. Go into Windows Media Player 11 with your GoGear connected to the computer (it will automatically sync and add new files one last time), move the mouse cursor over to the sync tab; a small black arrow will appear under the word "Sync"; click on the small black arrow and a dropdown menu will appear; select "Portable media device" from the dropdown menu, and another dropdown menu will appear; select "Set Up sync"; a window will appear with some information on your device - uncheck the box that says "Sync this device automatically"; click Finish; This will eliminate the problem of Windows always adding songs/files you don't want into your player. -Tha Mp3 Doctor
This player can only handle songs that are in a specific bit rate - lower it to the rate suggested in your product specs. Go to RCA's website if you have lost the documentation. Corrupt file systems can usually be solved with a firmware upgrade (also at RCA's website), but if that fails: There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer
itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up
erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as
new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override
the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be
reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware
upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites. WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.
Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or
FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right
click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to
Windows-based computers. You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself: Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media
Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath
the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking
on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of
Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select
"Format." - this should erase everything. -Tha Mp3 Doctor
My suggestion is switching the file transfer protocol from MTP to MSC by accessing it under the Menu.
Once you do this, when the Lyra is plugged into the computer, it will appear as an external hard drive.
Format the hard drive and then drag and drop your songs and/or directories of songs onto the Lyra.
This is what I do, as I never use Rhapsody, URGE, or even Windows Media Player or MusicMatch to upload songs onto my RD2763.
Hope this helps!
