Anyone know a fix for the common problem these phones seem to have? When you plug it in to the charger, it either doesn't see it at all, or tries to charge, then comes back with the error "unable to charge". Is there a way to clean the contact or something?
While not a fix for this problem, what I have found to work nearly every time is to set something slightly heavy on the charger prong where it enters the phone. Turning it over and resting the prong on a book also allows it to make the necessary contact. It has lasted me for two years; one year charging just like that.
I had this annoying problem as well. First I cleaned and scrapped the metal prongs with an alcohol pad. Then I plugged it in and pulled on it rather forcefully (but not too hard) until it started charginging. It's charging now but who knows what that means for the future.
Hi. this is a very common issue with this phones.
one of the charging contacts is disconnected from the main board inside. that's why when a little pressure is applied it tries to charge. but it needs to be checked by some one that deals with that type of phone. a little research and i found someone on eBay that is selling parts for this phone model. so they must know how to deal with it. here is the link V710 Parts
Hope they can help with this issue. but again is very common on this phone model.

My Motorola Blur would not charge kept saying Connect Charger. I tried various power connecters including the Original one that came with the phone and the USB to no avail. This morning I took the phone apart and clean it and still would not recognize the charger.
Fix: I lifted up the connector where the charger plugs into on the actual phone and now it is making contact and appears to now be charging my phone.
My SLVR had the same problem, so I bought a new one from Amazon. When I plugged the new one in the first time it did fine, but when I ran the battery completely out, it wouldn't charge. I played around with it a little bit, and I think I've found a solution that works: try taking the SIM card out of the phone, THEN charge it. It works on both my new one and my old one that way. The drawback for you is that you can't use your phone while its charging, I just switch phones while the other is charging, a bit of a pain sometimes, but the SLVR is my favorite phone so its worth it. :-) Good Luck.
you need to try and get into the boot loader to see if you can flex/flash it from there. a new flex should solve the problem, unless there is physical or water damage to it.
It could also be a defective battery. Are you positive the battery works?
Did you do any kind of upgrade on the phone? played with it's firmware?

Flexing is done the same way
