Kicker l7 I have a tear in my l7 around the out side of the rubber edge how can i fix it?

  • Anonymous Mar 17, 2014

I have a set of older MTX Thunders 10" and 15" that the foam around the outer edge has come off. The speakers are older but with very little use. I was wondering if there is a fix or if there is somewhere I can send them to have them repaired. The set of 8" Blue thunders I have have rubber around the outer edge instead of foam. Any ideas?

That is called a suround my freind. depending on the exact size of the foam surround they are available with good instructions at many many places that do speaker repairs on-line. Heres one I have used in the past http://www.simplyspeakers.com/2doityourself.htm?src=overture Like I said there are tons of them available on-line. Simply search for speaker surround repair. Good Luck Please do not forget to rate this thread.

Need help fixing my suwoofer kicker L5

I have 6-10's and 4-12 L7's in around the same condition with the solo "S" blown out of the cones, its amazing what 20kw does to them in the right box..lol.
you could try sanding around the hole than c.a. (black rubber toughened super glue) a patch of thin cotton fabric, tack down the edge with glue, than saturate the cotton with glue and spray with accellerator, it should last quite a while before it flies apart.

My 12 L7 the rubber came off the cone and doesnt hit as hard what kind of glue would fix my problem

Hi, Jr.

I'm sorry, but glue will not fix this problem. When the rubber or foam edge of a speaker breaks down or deteriorates because of age, it becomes almost like dust, which is why it cracks and then breaks apart and falls away from the speaker. The only way to fix it (besides replacing the speaker) is to replace the edge, or "surround". At this link, http://www.simplyspeakers.com/All-Foam-Kits_c_118-1-3.html, you will find a kit that you can buy to repair your speaker for about $30. The standard 12" repair kit will work if you have an 'angle cone edge attach' type speaker (see the bottom of the page for a picture of what this means). This page, http://www.simplyspeakers.com/speaker-repair-foam-edge-replacement-instructions.html, will show you step by step how to use the kit to repair your speaker.

Good luck, and please remember to rate my help.
Thank you for the opportunity to help you.

I have a kicker 15 inch L7 solo baric and the rubber piece around the plastic part of the center of the sub has come apart from the outside black ring. how can i fix this?

You can purchase a silicone sealant set, specifically for speakers. Its quite easy to use. Ebay has alot of them and they are relatively cheap.

I have 1 "12" kicker L7 and i got into a car accident. the sub works greath but the outer face has a crack in it.. its not big but i wanted to know what could i do to fix the problem

If the cone has a crack in it, that is USUALLY fatal, but you MIGHT try using the BLACK ABS plumbing glue to repair the plastic.

I don't know what you mean by the front face.

IF you mean the frame around the cone, I would grind out a groove (Vee it) over the crack and mix and fill with JB Weld. Paint to match when the material has set up and is smoothed a bit.

How do i rebuild a set of solobaric l7 subs 15s

you have to remove the rubber surround holding the front of the subwoofer to the metal frame.the voice coil is a coil of copper wire.you should be able to get it through kicker.its not the easiest thing to do i recomm seeing if kicker can rebuild it for you or try a local speaker repair shop theres not alot of them but you can find them.first get the rebuild kit if your going to do it.it should show you everything you need to do. if you need more help let me know [email protected]

My solo baric L7 needs a new rubber lip

Hello saladinmali,

I'm sorry to hear that your sub was vandalized.

I'd start directly with Kicker and ask if they sell a replacement "surround" for the sub. If so, they will also have removal and installation instructions. Email them at: [email protected]. Or call (405) 624-8510. A user installed surround would be the least expensive and should run no more than $40-50. If Kicker does not sell a repair kit and requires that you return the sub to them for repair, expect to pay shipping both ways, as well as for the repair itself. My estimate would be about $125-150 total.

Hope this helps.

Cracked Rubber

what i would do is:
super glue the cracks, allow to dry and then use a silicone lubricant spray and let sit for about 10 min then wipe clean. silicone spray can slightly restore the rubber/foam

Kicker L7 plastic faceplates

You will have to buy the whole cone replacment kit for that part or get from bad speaker. Both can be purchased on ebay or other sites.
