The green and orange keeps flashing steadly when you turn printer on it wont feed any paper
Ink buildup in the internal service station causes the small poorly
designed pusher cogs on two drive gears to snap off and the printer is
instantly converted to junk.
HP was giving new printers out for this problem till Jan 06 or so as they realized it was a poor design.
I
fixed one with parts from an electronically damaged unit, but usually
the blinking lights and "won't print no matter what" problem are
sheared gears. Parts are not available. Some people made metal gears
(the only answer) on a very short run basis in Europe several years ago
because people LOVE this printer.
Once you know the problem, it's simple to keep it from happening with some maintenance, but once they shear, it's over.
There
was some kind of paper-clip fix that was solving the problem even with
sheared gears, but I was never able to understand exactly how it was
done. Needed a pic or two.
Otherwise a great printer, huge cartridges last a long time, great quality on photos too.
I have to keep mine running to have a happy wife.

Assuming there is no paper jammed, turn off printer and disconnect from usb port. Go to add/remove programmes and uninstall printer software and drivers. Go to printer and faxes folder or go through control panel and ensure the HP printer is deleted, if not right click and delete. Re-start pc and install drivers from your printers cd rom and re connect printer when prompted and not before (if no prompt when software finishes connect printer). Your pc should then idenitify your printer and auto install drivers. If the lights still flash then there is a hardware problem, probably not worth repairing, as printers are so cheap nowadays.

My printer will turn on but then the 'no paper' light and the power light will flash. Each time I hit the 'no paper' button, the printer will try to get a piece of paper but will not grab any. As I was looking over it I noticed that there is a piece in the bottom of the printer that moves up and down. I think that it has to be in the up position in order for the paper to feed, but there is nothing to hold it up, so it just fall down and the paper hits a wall where the peice was supposed be. I think that the piece was made at a curve in order to create a slant for the paper to go up, but since it always sits on the bottom, instead of the paper sliding up, it just hit 90 degree angle. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
i noticed that, on attempt to print, the printer will pick the paper alright, but no print is seen on the paper and the green and orange lights keep blinking unabatedly. i tried opening the cover and discovered that, the ink catridges dont move as the paper transits the machine.
Orange and green lights are blinking, and printer won't feed paper nor will it print. Don't tell me I can't fix this...
