PS3 80 GB played well with the Game, PS2 game & DVD. But when I put in the Bluray disc (tested few new ones as well) it played for 2 minutes and frozed. When I eject it wouldn't even read and gave me a message "video cannot be played Error 80029941" What does that mean? Try to restore original factory and still the same. Can this be fixed?
Desparately need help!
Hi tomdonnatim,
If your PS3 is brand new, you most likely have to update the system's
software to a more current version in order to properly play many
Blu-Ray discs.
In order to update your PS3 system:
Go to the home menu, move to the "Settings" tab (the 2nd tab from the
far left), scroll down to "System Update". It takes about 5 minutes to
download and fully download the update, but it should solve the problem.
More information on the system update can be found below:

My system has been working very well for for the last year. I was watching a blu ray (step brothers - brand new), 10 min into the movie it stops and error code 80029941 pops up. Since then, not a single movie or game has loaded. I have restarted, reloaded, restored to default settings, and a fresh update before watching the flick. Thinking that I should just "start over" I discouneccted the system overnight. The next day the title screen opened and had changed color from black to red. It still does not load anything.
????
I have the same problem. I have the original 20G system w/ all updates and it played flawless until I tried playing Dark Knight on BD last night and now I can't play any blu-rays without freezing up and getting "This video cannot be played (80029941)" popping up. I tried the soft reset and that didn't work. I disabled the BD internet and that didn't work either.
