I have lost my key code for my mircosoft works cd. I had my computer fixed and now i have the reinstall my programs it is asking me to enter my code. I no longer have it what do i do now?

You need to uninstall and the reinstall the software. DO NOT EVER POST YOUR SOFTWARE KEY'S AS NOW SOMEONE CAN HIJACK YOUR SOFTWARE. As soon as you uninstall the software, reinstall the software and enter the reg key. The rest is done through your internet connection to the F-Secure Registration Server.

To reinstall the product, do one of the following:

• If you have the installation CD, reinstall the product from the CD.
• Download and reinstall the product as follows:
  1. Download the product from F-Secure website .
  2. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation.
  3. During the installation, enter your subscription key when asked.

Note: You can reinstall your F-Secure product by using the existing subscription key. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet before you enter the subscription key. You do not need to register again after reinstalling your F-Secure product.

make sure that the dvd burner is getting enough power test all leads that are attached to the dvd burner including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or
your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd burner then plug them back in or
you might have to uninstall then reinstall your DVD/CD or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device
control panel admistrive tools,computer management,device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives right click you can you can update driver,roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall

if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem

Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer
Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

There is one way to locate your serial key embedded in the registry (this will only work if you haven't reinstalled windows since removing office). Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes...

1. Manually locating the Microsoft Office 2007 product key from the registry is nearly impossible due to the fact that it's encrypted. Luckily, a number of free programs exist to help find product keys.

2. Choose a free product key finder program that supports Microsoft Office 2007.
-Any product key finder that locates Microsoft Office 2007 product keys will locate the product keys for any edition you may have including Microsoft Office 2007 Professional, Ultimate, Enterprise, Professional Plus, Small Business, Standard, Home and Student, and Basic.

3. Download and run the key finder program. Follow any instructions provided by the software.

4. The numbers and letters displayed by the program represent the Microsoft Office 2007 product key. The product key should be formatted like xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx - five sets of five letters and numbers.

5. Write this key code down exactly as the key finder program displays it to you for use when reinstalling Microsoft Office 2007.
-If even one character is written down incorrectly, the installation of Microsoft Office 2007 that you attempt with this product key will fail. Be sure to transcribe the key exactly.

im gonna assume your talking about the cd key, there are programs that you can download for free called "key finders" they display the cd key for the game when the game asks you to enter it when the program is running, try getting the program from a freeware site

First try holding the keys Ctrl, Alt and Delete at the same time for three times when computer is on login screen at startup.
This will open a box asking for user ID and password.
In user put 'Administrator', and leave the password blank.

If this does not work, then reinstall Windows, after reinstalling Windows you will be asked to enter new user names.

If you are truely restoring the orginal computer from an restore CD (from boot up) - it should not ask for a key for it is an OEM install. If trying to install 98 on another computer, not the same make and model than what it was sent out for = it will, and the only way to get this key is to ask Mircosoft.
