Which Operating System are you using? Is it windows XP or VISTA? You need to download Microsoft ActiveSync in case using Windows XP from: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/activesync-download.mspx
and in case of windows VISTA, download Windows Mobile Device Center from: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx
This is most likely caused by a change in the user acount password that you created the profile with.
Under network select Logon account Managment. in here you will see the accounts that you used to login to the Domain. (AD)
Consider setting up separate accounts (backup, etc) for these services & scheduled jobs, rather than using the admin or personal accounts. This way you can still change the admin account password on a regular basis & maintain security, but not have to go the hassle of updating all of these at each change.
You may also opt to set these specific accounts so that the passwords do not expire automatically so that you do not have to deal with that scenario.
The error is because the driver isn't loaded for the device. Look up how to add the device in symantec help. If windows recognizes it already then usually you can go to devices and add teh device from within symantec.
Make sure that your tape drive is using Symantec drivers. to do this follow these steps.
Go into Tools->Wizards->Device Configuration Wizard and follow the step to "Install tape device drivers". This should take care of the compression issue.
