Hello kellyffang.
Don't you just hate it when that happens! I know I would. But don't worry … relax, take a deep breath … then let's just see if I can GEEK-steer you towards some well deserved joy :-)
Based upon the error code you cited ("PXE-E61 Media test failure"), and assuming you have not made any recent changes to the system's BIOS, it is almost a certainty that your problem is related to the hard-disk-drive (HDD).
== BOOT TEST ==
Try starting up from ANY bootable CD/DVD disk (Windows XP/Vista installation, Live, backup/recovery, etc.). If it's able to successfully boot, that all but confirms its HDD related.
LIVE CD:
If you do not have a bootable CD/DVD disk, then right now is THE time to acquire a Live bootable recovery disk. It's a must have for every system user. There are countless freeware choices available, but here are my two top suggestions:
Falcon's UBCD [Torrent]
Downloading this one will require a bit-torrent client (e.g., BitComet, utorrent, etc.). Once downloaded, burn/write the .ISO image file to a CD using any ISO/image burning software (e.g., imgBurn).
UBCD4Win
This is an excellent recovery disk, however, unlike Falcon's UBCD, you will have to first construct the ISO before burning to CD. Just follow the provided instructions.
== LOOSE CABLE ==
Regardless if you're able to boot from a CD/DVD disk, it's still possible the problem is simply an improperly seated (loosely connected) IDE cable to the HDD.
ADVISORY: There are many who would advise you to bang on the laptop case in the hope that it will serendipitously jar the cable connected again. I'm NOT one of them. Despite this surprisingly working often enough to perpetuate the suggestion, it's ill advised and only temporarily fixes the problem.
Of course the best option is to open the case and physically inspect and ensure the cable is firmly seated. Since you're already poking around in there, you may as well check each and every connection possible, and perform a general cleanup (forced air in a can is very handy here).
You may want to refer to your laptop's documentation for guidance. Although you asked for a link to a SERVICE manual, your USER's manual will often cover the necessary basics (how to open the case, component diagrams, cautions, etc.). If you don't have one, here's a link to one I found. I also did a cursory web-search for a SERVICE manual to no avail. You may want to search a little more diligently than I did, but be advised: they are not often found without a price (either in money or in frustrating bait-and-switch run-arounds and hassles).
== FAILING/FAILED HDD ==
If at this point there is still no joy, it's very likely your HDD is failing (or failed). For which now your Live recovery CD can be pressed into service. Boot up with it, then use any number of tools available to you to test the HHD, recover its data, etc. However, if you get to this point, please post back, and we can pick it up from there.
Good luck, and thanks in advance for posting back ...
