I spilled liquid on my HP Probook 4320S (with spill resistant keyboard). Dried it up straight afterwards. Now it won't power up

Take it to a service shop asp, key board will need to be replaced, and the laptop will need to be assessed for motherboard damage.

Windows 7? Alt click Computer, properties, Device Manager. Uninstall your wireless device, redetect for harware changes and it should be reinstalled, it may then be working.

Happened to me with a new laptop came in the door, same problem!

Hi,
You might have disabled the touchpad accidentally. If the touchpad is disabled it is indicated by a yellow LED on upper left corner of the touchpad and when the TouchPad is active, the light is off.
To turn the TouchPad on, quickly double-tap the TouchPad off indicator (the yellow LED).

I do not believe the Probook 4440s has LED lighting for the keyboard. The key combinations Fn+F2 and Fn+F3 keys at the top of the keyboard control the monitor brightness (backlight). The keyboard is spill-resistant.

You need to attach an external keyboard with backlighting or a USB light to see your keyboard in a dim environment.

I wish that I could be of more help.

Liquid spills

Todays notebooks & laptops come equipped with spill resistant keyboards. Thats a big help in itself. But some are not . If your notebook has suffered a liquid spill while its on , IMMEDIATELY shut it down. GET AWAY from carpeting or metal furniture or objects: stand on wood or cement floor only. Turn the unit and place on its side to drain it from the liquid (NOT UPSIDE DOWN) and to avoid further damage to mainboard and keyboard. DO NOT TURN IT ON AGAIN . Remove the battery, hard disk drive, CDROM, memory modules, remove back cover, until exposed to mainboard. Take conventional hair dryer, blow dry using HIGH heat, slowly move over peripherals and mainboard five inches away with Extra drying process on keyboard and mainboard. Using a few cotton balls, pat down any excess liquid by absorbing into cotton -- blow dry this area intensley for long time (20-35 minutes, depending on amount of liquid spill). Wait a few days , replace all parts and turn on notebook.

How do i know if a motherboard is burned out after a liquid spill

what liquid was spilled into the keyboard ? water will dry out in a few days, but if it's soda then the motherboard/cooling fan will have to be cleaned

The screen is probably permanently damaged... Some of the juice got into the screen which is bad news. You have to be very careful with liquids around laptop screens, even when your just cleaning it. You should never spray or spill anything on a laptop screen. So if it bothers you too much you'll probably want to bring it to an expert to be replaced.

As for the keyboard you can clean it easily with a damp/wet cloth while it's turned off and the battery removed...

short of replacing the keyboard, there is not much you can do. If not killer expensive, then you could at your own risk put isopropal alcohol inside the tray - move around and then turn upside down. this will be easier on the electronics and may dissolve the liquid depending on what it is. If the viscocity is too high, then it wont work but worth a try.

Impossible to able fix that because since you spilled the liquid and when liquid gets on chips and fried right way, try to sent to computer store and let them look at it

After liquid spill the laptop has to be disassemble and the motherboard inspected for liquid damage. In some cases cleaning the motherboard might fix the laptop.

If you do not have spill proof keyboard, usually, the liquid will go through the keyboard to the motherboard of the system. most likely, you will have to get the motherboard of the system replaced. if the system is still under warranty, call the manufacturer for replacement.

Buy a new keyboard. They are cheap. One possible solution is to allow the keyboard to thoroughly dry and try it. You can pry up the key and look and see if it needs to be dusted out with some air, or cleaned of whatever was spilled on it. Perhaps alcohol on a Qtip on the moving parts. Not sure what "something" splashed on it. Root beer? Water? Big difference. I would visually inspect, try to dust, then clean with alcohol. Let it dry thoroughly and give it a shot. Short course, buy a new monitor. Good luck.
