The usual repair for a morotized face plate with symptions of no display, some buttons working or no buttons working & sometimes even the faceplay not moving, is the ribbon backthat connects the main unit to the face plate. Sometime you might be able to see the gold/yellow flat ribbon as the face plate flips. it's not too difficult to cange but it takes patience. the cables run around $15 to $30.00.if you replace it yourself, watch out incase the spring for the ribbon tension unwinds. good luck

I just put my old Kenwood KDC-X679 deck in a friends car and the radio works but the cd player and aux won't play audio

take the blue/white wire coming from the radio and tie that in with your solid blue wire coming from the radio and which is connected to whichever wire in the car. So in total you'll have 3 wires at a connector.

I just bought a 1994 bmw. I need a code to access my kenwood kdc-x679 excelon player. The previous owner doesn't know the code,

You can enter a 4-digit security code which must be used when the unit is removed from the vehicle, or the constant power source is disconnected from the unit. When constant power is restored to the unit, the security code must be entered before the unit becomes operational.
If the code is lost or forgotten I am afraid the unit has to go to a Kenwood dealer for re-coding.

Tuner error

Use a multimeter to check for connectivity to the sirius. Where did you mount the antenna? Maybe its a reception problem? Sounds like the head unit is going bad. Try shutting it down, and take the pace plate off, let it reboot and see if it works. Check to see if the Tuner is unplugged.
