Hi, I have a Zyxel P334WT router that was setup and working at my home. I was having trouble with the modem always disconnecting so went to the Roadrunner company and got a new modem. Now that I setup the new modem to my main computer, the internet only works with the modem directly connected to my computer. When I hook everything up to the router like it was before. Nothing seems to work. I tried to unplug everything and let it restart but that didn't work. Could you please help me to get the wireless working again?

Re: Router Not Working
First of all Reset by pressing a reset button or with the help of a pen. turn if off and restart ur computer
Once you connect ur computer with router.. go to start-run- type ipconfig. if you are getting an ip address in range of 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.255,
1.Launch your web browser(IE). Enter ?192.168.1.1? as the web site address.
2.The default password (?1234?)
in internet access setup choose "Encapsulation as ethernet and there should be nothing in username or password.incase you have been provided with username and password from ur ISP then enter those with ip address assignment setting as dynamic.
See if you can open the routers settings page. once you open it follow the instructions given on this link in .PDF format to SETUP ur router for ur internet connection.

you may be suffering from mixed Cat 5 and Cat 6 cabling. The wiring is slightly different and they don't work well when mixed in routers and modems etc. One or the other will work , but when they're mixed it'll do what you have going on here...
I would recommend wiring everything with cat 6 ethernet cabling. Look on your cable and you will find the labeling on the outer casing.
Try resetting the router and then see if the WLAN will lit up.Maybe it just disabled on the router. have you tried accessing the router's setup page to see?
You have to set different ip address. To clear this up this how I got my setup. I have verizon internet. I use a westell 6100g modem, I have the local ip address set for 192.168.1.1 and I got a linksys wireless router and the ip address set for 192.168.9.1. Then I plug my modem into the wan port and it works. What am I doing is setting a static ip address from my modem to the router and using the router to distribute my address through the network. If you have any printers on the network you need to change that numter to 192.168.9.x number. If you don't have two different numbers set the router will take over.
you will not be able to access from one network to another even if you are on the same workgroup. However, you can setup VPN on both side. the other is to use commercial remote software. i.e.: vnc, mypc, teamviewer, etc.... they don't need anything else, but do require setup on both machine. This is much easier, don't need any permission from the network administrator, or company permission.
hi . do you guys cant access to your wireless router ? if yes than try this
reset your modem by pressing reset button on your modem for more than 5 seconds so all the information entered will be gone including your password
than insert your modem CD and connect to your modem
set up your internet again
put your password and user name that your ISP gave you
set : get IP from ISP
get DNS from ISP
APPLY
than go to wireless setting
use wpa- personal
and set up a new password eg. (usa2008)
than it will say your computers and network setting doesnt match
go to connect find your modem
right click on it
click on properties
than go security
choose WPA- personal
TKIP
and your password (usa2008) you set to your modem
connect to your internet
im not sure if this is what you mean / thats how i anderstood your problem
NOTE : RESET YOUR MODEM IF YOU HAVE ALL YOUR INTERNET SERVICE INFORMATION
BECAUSE IT WILL DELETE ALL INFORMATION IN YOUR MODEM including user name / password / IP / DNS / and your modems password
If a LAN connected PC will not work while a wireless laptop is connected you need to go into advanced router setup, bandwidth management, and untick the three boxes labeled "active" to disable the band width management. Easy!
