I have a kerosine type reddy heater 55,000 btu. i plug it in and it starts and has heat but only runs for about fifteen seconds. it will keep repeating this as many times as I plug it in. i had real old kerosine in it the first couple of times i started it i'v emptied it and put fresh kerosine in it. i'v tried starting it about a undred times and it just never stays on.

Reddy Heater Model M50A, 50000BTU. The machine will start and fire ignites. The machine will blow heat but flames out in about 5-10 minutes. The cloud and fan keep running w/ no flame. If I unplug it and replug it in it will repeat the process.

I have a ready heater 110 and it does the same thing worked great then started this out of the blue

Have an RM60 Kerosene Heater. Inconsistant performance. Initially, ignitor would glow, fan would come on, (briefly) but would not fire up, then quickly shut down. Took to a dealer, checked pump pressure, adjusted, and it worked fine, (For about 20 minutes, then it shuts down). Same problem as above. Did a complete tune-up; filters, ignitor, etc.

Any suggestions? (Note: had the unit back to the dealer twice, bring it home, it works great, then reverts back to aforementioned problem(s).

Did you check the plug. If it is fowled or the plug is not gapped properly it will not fire or run efficently and will shut off.

What is the model number? Could be a number of things, depending on which technology is used on your particular 55,000 btu heater.

You're going to have to actually look at the heater, copy down the model number, then reply here on Fixya. There are many 55's. 2 different technologies, different troubleshooting tactics.

Lights and runs for 30 seconds then goes out and trips overload switch

Check to see if the pump is leaking some where. Then clean the pump out if there is no leak. Are you burning kerosine?K 1 will give you no problems, but diesel will cause a lot of problems, some reddy heaters can burn both, and some you can not,so look at the warnings.
