SOURCE: LG Plasma has sound but no picture

Hi James,
This could be one of two problems. I can't narrow it down any further without having the set in front of me.
1. The plasma panel or the componets which supply electricity to the plasma in the panel have packed up.
2. The video processing unit in the set has gone.
As for the cost of repair, if it's the panel, buy a new TV. It'll be cheaper. If it's the component that supplies the electricity to the plasma on the panel or the video processing unit, expect to pay between 300-400 as a conservative estimate for parts. Labour would be another 100-200.

Hope this helps

SOURCE: Picture gone on an LG 42pc1dv-ec plasma. Sound OK,

Your Vs voltage is high, check if the heatsinks on the Z-sustain board are getting hot after a short time, if so replace the Z-sustain board. If not, dis-connect the Vs & Va plug connection to the Y-sustain & check if the voltages are normal (185V & 80V). If they are then your fault will be in the Y-sustain board. There is a possibility the control board (sits below the power supply) could also be a problem as it is not able to initiate the control to the sustain boards.

SOURCE: LG PDP42X3 No Picture - I have sound and blue

This condition, sound no picture, is generally a result from a failed y-sustain and/or x-sustain board. You can check the fuse for continuity or resistance using a multimeter. I am helping someone repair their LG 42pc3d, that's why I thought I'd help you out too.

SOURCE: lg plasma 42PC3D no picture with sound

I know you already replaced the board, this is for future searchers. If you heard a popping sound, then the picture went out, there is a 32 pin Sanyo module that goes bad on the board. That's probably what caused the fuse to blow. Replace the module, then replace the fuse. The module is less than half the cost of a used board. Since this was a popular model TV, there are lots of replacement boards on the used market.

Picture went black but you could still hear the movie

Hi- My PL4260N stopped working after about three years, the audio worked but no video at all. The TV worked fine until one day...no more picture.
I found out that the YSUS and ZSUS boards in the TC fail alot...BUT you can get new or repaired ones off of EBAY...
First check for failed components (burned, loose, bulging, etc.) if nothing obvious is failed then check the fuses on the YSUS, ZSUS, and power supply boards...usually if a board has a blown fuse the board needs to be replaced...get the part number and search it in Google and eBay and you will find options for replace/repair.
Mine had a blown fuse on the YSUS board...I got it fixed for $75 through coppell TV (they are on Ebay)....
Now my TV works fine again!
Good luck.

Lg Plasma PC1DA no Picture??????

The provided description is typical for failure of a YSUS board, which is in turn quite typical for LG 42PC1DA and a bunch of other makes and models which all share the same internals.

To find out whether it's the YSUS or the ZSUS board that has gone bad look at the following article:
http://blog.coppelltvrepair.com/2011/02/hp-pl4260n-suddenly-lost-picture-how-to.html

This is for a different make and model, but has the same core modules that 42PC1DA has.

This article also addresses the case when the TV refuses to come on, which is usually caused by a shorted IPM module on a YSUS board which, however, did not lead to burning the fuse as it normally does.
The failure is actually the same, only the symptom is different.

If the failed board is the YSUS (which is the case most of the times, but not always) then you may want to check
http://blog.coppelltvrepair.com/2011/03/how-to-uninstall-6871qyh053b-and.html

Finally, you may consider the following:
http://blog.coppelltvrepair.com/2011/05/should-i-replace-repair-one-or-both.html

Should you need to have one or both boards serviced you can use the following:

Good luck!

I have a lg 42pc3dv plasma tv. it made a loud pop

Looking at it from the back, the board on the left is the ysus. You should see a big red cable coming from the power supply board in the middle of the set going to the ysus. Near the red cable plug on the ysus should be a fuse. Most likely the fuse has blown. If it is you need a ysus PCB. Check out encompassparts.com. If you get a new board be sure to set all the controls on the new board to match the old board. If you don't you will have little sparkles all over the screen when it comes back on. I hope this helps. You may want to check all fuses on the power supply and the zsus which is on the right side of the set. I have seen both the ysus and zsus be bad together. Good luck and thanks.
