To resolve this, try removing and replacing the post-filter, as shown in our filter wash video guide below:


When replacing the filter, make sure you push it firmly into place, until you hear a click from the red locking catch.

Air filter is not getting air flow.air must pass thru filter or it will pop off.I placed filter against exhaust end of shop-vac ( NOT SUCTION END) untill I got air coming out.

I'm surprised to hear your DC24's filter is coming out of place in use. As long as it was refitted correctly after it was washed, it should stay in place securely - you should hear a click from the red catch when you push it firmly into place.


If it continues to pop out of position when you're using the machine, please get in touch with us directly so we can help you check if the catch has been damaged. If it has, we can take some further details to confirm whether a replacement is covered under your Dyson guarantee.

There are two reasons why the post filter may pop out. One reason is that the spring on your filter may be broken. The post filter should pop in and you should hear a click to make sure it is locked in place. If you don't hear that click, the spring may be broken. Otherwise, your post filter may be dirty. Once the filter is packed with debris, air can no longer pass through it causing the ball to pop open. There are also two types of filters for your Dyson DC25. Remember for optimal performance, it is recommended to change your filters every three to six months.

Is the spring in the clip that locks the filter in place , it's not much bigger than the one found in a pen !

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. If you haven't tried this already, try pushing the filter firmly into place until you hear an audible click. This should stop the filter popping out of place.
