Frustrating Picture Issues - Horizontal Blue Lines
I have a Toshiba 46H83 that is only about three years old. For the last several months multiple thin horizontal blue lines across the entire screen from top to bottom have appeared, typically when first turned on. On occasion they will go away but lately the lines are more intense and they are always somewhat visible. There are now only moments of clarity. I have pulled the screen and cleaned the lenses and saw no real issues, nor did it have any affect on this issue. I have noticed that the lines are affected by vibration, if I tap lightly on the top of the set it may clear up for a short time, but most likely will re-appear. This problem is present regardless of inputs; digital cable, DVD, VCR, ECT. I have tried different power supplies also with no luck. I have called the only qualified service outfit in town with a response we can come look at it for a fee. What I would like to know if anyone has seen this issue before? Is there something I can do to fix it or investigate further? Is it worth paying a field service tech to come look at it? Or do I need to cut my losses and buy a new TV? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I have had this TV for about 4 years, I recently started to have this problem with the light blue lines as well. starting from Rt bottom corner moving upwards. I have tried adjusting all my cables in case one was not in all the way, but no luck. I have the same tv model KDL-40W4100 and around the same age. At the moment I have 16 of
these horizontal lines
over the entire
screen and they seem to be grouped into 2 lines per row. They are also
around 4 inches and two pixel rows high. I have been looking over the
Internet
for months and found nothing to troubleshooting this issues. In the
last few weeks
more and more of these groups of lines have been showing up and now i am
up to 16 of them and it is becoming unwatchable. Any help from anyone
would be greatly appreciated. I also attached a picture to describe it better. Thanks!
1. the motherboard might be bad and you will need to replace it.
2. or The power supply is bad
Chances are if its making clicks the power supply is bad and you will need to replace it. Which makes sense because constantly powering the tv on and off will damage the power supply or possibly short out your motherboard. These things usually cost about 200 bucks to fix at a local tv repair store.
We also have vertical lines with our JVC 62"... turning it off and letting it cool down is the only solution. For us, we know it's a problem with heat. We simply are wits end on fixing it. added two additional fans, a exterior fan to blow heat away from the back of the tv, pulled everything else away, etc.... Anyway, goodluck.
If the repairman you had look at the set is used to working on projection sets, have him come back and Re-Solder Connector Px801 (Edge Connector) On The G-Hyper Module. (Pins 1 And 2 Of Px801 probably needs to be Re-Soldered) Otherwise, find a different repair person.
The two symptoms are related and are associated with the high voltage transformer, since the problem developed overnight is going to the help of a qualified technician to diagnose the cause,if you are familiar with tv service look at the horizontal output transformer for signs of damage but be careful, there are dangerous voltages present.Or be safe and call for help.
