Re: RCA TV PROBLEM
Check the horizontal o/p transistor I suspect it's shorted, find location Q14401, on the board it's marked as q401. it's located near the flyback on a heatsink. if it's bad the rca part number is 242224.

It sounds that the Flyback transformer has damaged. Contact any experienced service technician if
you are not familiar with electronics, do not attempt to repair. Whether you sufferfatal electrical shock!
Instead, contact the nearest service center
That click might have originated in 2 places: either it was the main relay disconnecting or it was the sound of a capacitor popping. Both are very severe problems - they signal that the power source of your tv has just failed.
Fixing it is a job for someone with electronics experience, if you're not one then call a repairman.
It's not the picture tube(especially if image was good b4 it went dead). The high pitch noise is the power supply whinning because it's shorted or overloaded. I just fixed one of these sets - replaced the horiz. o/p transistor and flyback estimate around $120.00-$160.00
This could be you audio out put stage malfunctioning. As a test connect a head set to you RCA connectors for audio (Red and White RCA Audio out jacks) and see if there is sound (there should not be if the audio amp has malfunctioned). In addition check your setup menu to make sure the TV is not on mute mode. If the TV is not on mute and you do not hear sound from the headset connected to the audio out RCA jacks, then we can start looking at the possibility of an internal circuit problem.
I have the schematic so if you need help, and have a background in electronics, we can get this fixed. If you do not have a background in electronics I would suggest getting a qualified TV technician to fix this TV for you.
ok does the set show a picture durring this whinning
i have ran into this problems .. sometimes it has to do with a coil that is oscillating...ll037 or ll029...the fix for this is simple if it is the problem. dampen the coil with silicon.
The F27442 uses the CTC203 series chassis and that symptom is very common. If the horizontal output is shorted you MUST resolder the coil in series with the base of that transistor and the pins of the small horizontal drive transformer. When they have been properly resoldered you can put in a new original horizontal output transistor. If the output transistor shorts out again then your flyback (high voltage) transformer is shorted and needs to be replaced.
