Are you searching for this specific remote because it has dedicated features to your machine? Have you thought of using universal remote control? I know some of these universal remote control have a feature which can enable you to search for the code even if it is not listed in their manual. Good Luck.

Sounds like you did hit a button on your remote. More than likely it's an audio button on the remote. This button typically selects an audio track on the dvd itself. It's either this or somehow during setup you've selected (depending on the rest of your audio setup) either the bitstream or PCM output for sound. I would just try hitting the audio button until you get something, or go into your dvd setup and try changing from either bitstream or PCM to the other choice.
Power On the player Be sure there is no disk in the player Press the SETUP key on the remote control Go to the General Preference Group Setup (press right key 3 times) Press the keys "1379" slowly one after the Other. A new window (Overlay) will show the current region code Select the desired region code with the “up” or “down” key ( ZERO =CODE FREE) Press PLAY to confirm your selection Press SETUP key to exit.
I found a perfect universal remote with the logitech harmony 525. usb / infrared / internet upgradeable. also loads keyfunctions directly from the old remote, but most of the keys came directly from the standards offered. the configuration is web-based and always up2date. service people are also very helpful. can fully recommend it!
Here is the link for the 8300 user manual if you need it;
here is manual for the dvd player
Not sure but try 438 or 445 as a code for your dvd, 445 most likely to work. (here is the link i got that from);
if this doesn't work then find a universal remote that you can get hold of easily near you and tell us the model number, we could probably tell you if it will be compatible with both machines and what the codes are.
Hope this helps :)
