Question about Samsung HLR5067WX 50" Rear Projection HDTV
Manual states if Standby/temp light, Lamp , Timer light flash then you need to replace the bulb. Standby/temp & lamp indicators are flashing but not Timer. Is this a simple bulb replacment even if Timer light not flashing or something else. I know the TV has to be due for a bulb, it has been a few years since I last changed the original, but then I had heard the bulb pop. This time all was working fine, then a few hours later the tv just wouldn't turn on with picture or sound at all.
Two things to look at---------the lamp to see if shattered inside AND with it removed look where it faces at the color wheel--see attached photo.
Look to see if any segments are broken, missing etc. Many of the wheels fail in this way and some will have a high pitched or even fan like sound before they fail.
Some when really bad will make a grinding noise also. The set monitors the speed of the wheel and if it slows or stops the set will almost instantly turn the lamp off(if possible watch from area where lamp is to see if at turn on to see if it for a moment lights or not.

If the lamp has been replaced I would think the Lamp ballast would be most likliest followed by the color wheel and then the Digital board. You can get any part needed for your model at www.tvrepairworld.com just leave them a email they respond quickly.

two things to check here:
1. remove the lamp and examine it to make sure it is not shattered inside.
2. if the set had a high pitched or fan like noise before it failed, the color wheel needs to be looked at--I can tell you a easy way to do this.
Look at the lamp first--life span is 2000 hours.
I am here to help and the more you tell me the better I can help you.

Testimonial: "Thanks. I will look at the lamp and the digital board."
If you hear a ticking and or buzzing sound as it is trying to start up then most likely the replacement lamp is bad. Take it out and reseat it one more time to see what happens. The noise you hear is the ballast attempting to fire the lamp up.
