Question about Samsung HLR5067WX 50" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

No picture no sound lamp light and standy / temp light flashing

Manual states if Standby/temp light, Lamp , Timer light flash then you need to replace the bulb. Standby/temp & lamp indicators are flashing but not Timer. Is this a simple bulb replacment even if Timer light not flashing or something else. I know the TV has to be due for a bulb, it has been a few years since I last changed the original, but then I had heard the bulb pop. This time all was working fine, then a few hours later the tv just wouldn't turn on with picture or sound at all.

I removed the bulb assembly. t looked fine. Nothing looks broken or shattered. I have heard people describe the color wheel rubbing or making a sound before they go. Did not experience that. Picture qualty was excellent when it was shut off, then 2 hrs later Standby/Temp & Lamp indicators flashing, I could see the bulb glowing through the back of the TV but no picture or sound when I powered it up.

What is the DMD? If it is this or a color wheel on a set bought in 06' what would be the cost trade off for trying to do myself just buying the part(s) vs finding a new one on sale. 50" has come way down since 06'. If color wheel is problem & replaced what are the other known failures yet to come and make repairing a waste of $$$. Anyone guess what total cost will be for service center to do this job? Thanks

Two things to look at---------the lamp to see if shattered inside AND with it removed look where it faces at the color wheel--see attached photo.

Look to see if any segments are broken, missing etc. Many of the wheels fail in this way and some will have a high pitched or even fan like sound before they fail.

Some when really bad will make a grinding noise also. The set monitors the speed of the wheel and if it slows or stops the set will almost instantly turn the lamp off(if possible watch from area where lamp is to see if at turn on to see if it for a moment lights or not.

If the lamp has been replaced I would think the Lamp ballast would be most likliest followed by the color wheel and then the Digital board. You can get any part needed for your model at www.tvrepairworld.com just leave them a email they respond quickly.

SOURCE: HL-R5667W Picture just went blank, no sound. When

two things to check here:

1. remove the lamp and examine it to make sure it is not shattered inside.

2. if the set had a high pitched or fan like noise before it failed, the color wheel needs to be looked at--I can tell you a easy way to do this.

Look at the lamp first--life span is 2000 hours.

I am here to help and the more you tell me the better I can help you.

If you hear a ticking and or buzzing sound as it is trying to start up then most likely the replacement lamp is bad. Take it out and reseat it one more time to see what happens. The noise you hear is the ballast attempting to fire the lamp up.

Samsung HL-T6756 DLP TV Standby/temp light flashing and tv won't come on. I have replaced the lamp and the fan is working. Any suggestions?

Remove lamp and inspect the color wheel to see if missing pieces or shattered---it will also just before failing give a high pitched or fan like sound and if running too slow or not at all instant shutdown happens.

Its also possible if you bought a GENERIC bulb--and used original cartridge the new lamp is bad.

Hlp 5063w on off front button flashing lamp then stanby..hear sound no picture.. shuts off then comes on.

If the lamp and standby lights are both flashing and the timer light is off, check that the lamp cover on the back of the TV is properly positioned in the groove and secured by the screw. Take it off and check that the screws that hold the lamp itself are secure. There is an safety feature that keeps the lamp from turning on when the lamp cover is off.

If the three lights (timer, lamp, and standby) are blinking, then the lamp needs to be replaced. If the timer and standby lights are blinking and the lamp light is off, then a cooling fan isn't working. When only the standby light is blinking and the other lights are off, the unit is overheating and a ventilation area may be blocked.

I hope this helps.

Have the 6165wx tv won't turn on flashes 3 lights timer lamp and standby/temp any suggestions?

The tv's lamps life span is about 3,000 hours of viewing pleasure. Some lamps exceeds and some barely reached the 3,000 mark, but when this happened you will not have any pictures showing, but it have sounds. This means that lamp is already burnt out and needs to be replaced.

Burned out lamp?

First. Turn on the set and see if the Lamp Illuminates, If so then you have a bad Color Wheel. If the Lamp does not light up, you have a bad lamp.
Take out the lamp and look to the center of the lamp. If you see broken glass inside you have a bad lamp.
