Bluish circular area in picture

We have noticed a bluish circular area about 8 inches in diameter in the center of the picture area. It does not overwhelm the color but is noticeable enough that on certain pictures it detracts from the viewing. Also very noticeable if watching old B&W movies. I have just changed the lamp with no positive effect. What are next checks?

Google the model number with "problems" since this sounds like a damaged Optical Light Engine which has been burnt/damaged by the heat from the lamp and this is a common issue on this and other Sony sets.

SOURCE: green spot

Easy fix. I had the same green spot problem with PT-52LCX65 and I removed the front panel (no screws). In the center is a panel that has two screws. Remove them and pull the cover off. There you will find the projection bulb. Do not clean the bulb but instead the base. Use a damp cloth to wipe the dust off the black disk (the base of the projection bulb housing). Apparently the dust through static electricity may cause enough magnetism to distort your picture. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Hitachi 51F59A Color/Dark problem

Could be the blue CRT shorting out. I had the same problem but with red. Eventually it shorted out completely. If it is only 2.5 month old it should still be under warranty and they will fix it.

SOURCE: Green spot / glow in center left side of Panasonic PT-61LCX65 LCD Projection HDTV

This unit has a chonic issue with corruption in the eeprom that causes spots and shadows. The correction is to find some service center that has the jig to hook up to your unit and correct the eeprom. This is an extended warranty issue with Panasonic and if you contact them they should be able to refer you a qualifed service center and Panasonic will pay.

SOURCE: my Hitachi LCD rear projection TV has blue color in left corner

It is most likely the tube going out. Find some one to replace the tube if the TV is fairly new other wise it is going to be a trend. One tube now and another.. and so on. Ride it out as long as you can then go for an upgrade

I want to cut a circle where the outside line is 18 inches

To get a circle with a perimeter of 18 inches, you want a diameter of about 5.73 inches (just under 5 3/4 inches) or a radius of 2.86 inches (call it 2 7/8 inches). Get a compass, set its legs 2 and 7/8 inches apart, put one end at the center, and turn.

21 cm saw blade

21 cm is 8-1/4 inches. You could use an 8 inch blade or 7-1/4. But the diameter of the blade is not the critical thing. You must have a correctly fitting hole in the blade to mount on the saw shaft. Standard English size of the hole is 5/8 inch. Just take your saw with you to the store and try a blade on it. If the hole is a nice fit, your are good! (You posted this under circular saws, so I assume your saw is portable.)

Can a jig saw rip fence (Skil rip fence model No. 94500), with adjustment on the shaft from zero to five inches, be used to make a circular cut with a 8 inch radius (i.e., a 16 inch diameter cutout)?

no, will never happen. Make yourself a jig, 1/4" plywood set on your table top woth a small brad set 4" from blade. make a tiny hole in board to be cut into circle, spin the board on the brad, and look a wagon wheel.

I have a very old Skil circular saw Model #586. What size blade does it use?

measure from the center of the shaft to the inside of the guard, double that distance. subtract about 3/4 of an inch and this will be real close to the blade diameter that you need

Dark area on screen

If it's a circular area you might be delaing with magnetism. Check the menu and there should be a control for geomagnetic correction and adjust accordingly.
