Question about Sony Handycam DCR-VX2100 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
Have used this camcorder for about two years with great results. Suddenly today the picture is smeared with red veritical lines, both in the LCD display during recording, and in playback thru my editing equipment. Recorded today indoors at a school play, dress rehearsal, under faily low lights. I get the same results indoors here at home. Tested it outdoors just now at dusk and everything seems normal - no red smears. The only changes that I've made was a few weeks ago I adjusted from 4:3 to 16:9 wide screen to record a wedding. Tommorow is the opening performance and these kids do a superb job of putting on a Christmas play. I want to do them justice by producing a quality DVD. Please help!
Your camcorder is on a list with potentially defect CCD light sensors. Sony is replacing them free of charge. Go here for the link and free mailing label: http://www.imaging-resource.com/badccds.html
