The laser diode is usually the first component to fail in optical disc players.
If you can, open the casing to expose the CD mechanism.
Point a cell-phone camera at the laser lens, which hides under a flat bridge.
Without a disc inserted, press play or eject / load the CD tray.
Via the camera, you should see the laser diode briefly flash as it tries to read data from where disc should be.
No flash means IR laser diode has probably burnt out.
Don't stare directly into laser beam for long periods with the ***** eye - rather use the camera as an interface.
The beam's visual color is red, but the CDS sensor of a digital camera sees the IR radiation as white on mobile's screen.
Hi. From what you describe it sounds like the spindle, the part you clip your disc onto, has been pushed down too far and needs to be pulled back up a touch, 2mm approx. Image for clarification only.
its about time you get a new DVD Player...What type is it??? if it is a expensive one it is probably worth getting repaired but if it is a cheapy..then throw it away coz its not even worth looking at...there are the biggest pain to fix!! Best solution is to buy a new one!
Sounds to me like the laser has gone bad. What you are seeing is video that is the start screen. The unit is trying to read the disc to play. You could try to tap the unit on the side to jolt the pickup assembly as maybe its stuck in a spot but don't hit too hard and use a disc that you don't mind if it gets scratched. It probably won't scratch the disc but just in case. The Laser can go out even thou its only a year old they are made very cheaply now. Hope this helps some.
When i switch on my camcorder, it won't let me record. Error C13-02 is dispalyed on the screen. I have tried 2 different discs and have had no luck. Please help me repairs this.
Try using a lens cleaning disc (any brand). You'll find them at Wal-Mart in the electronics section, or even in your grocery store, probably near the cameras.
