Well after spending about 45 mins on hold and searching the internet for the last 2 days the resolution to this issue is to hold the display button down for 3 secs .... Yep thats it
Hope this saves someone some time
Was in the bedroom studying and had my 18m son runnin in and out so i figured id sit him on the bed and let him have his way w/t controller ... after about 10 minutes of hearing him turn the system off and on and turning back n forth from the cooking channel he quietly brought me the remote and went in the living room to play w/his cars ...
he didnt tell me he locked the TV ... thanksfor the tip - it worked ... u saved me alot of research and saved me from hearing my girls lip ... thank u sir ...
Thank you so much for your post!
I have had the hardest time trying to fix the TV; pouring over the owner's manual, changing batteries, unplugging, etc. All to no avail.
I can't thank you enough.
(I'm realizing as I write this that I may be a little too invested in watching tv...)

it could be the child lock, accidenty activated from remote or tv buttons,...goto steup mode and switch off the child loc, or any lock that your tv indicates is active...if the problem continues, might be the gate ic, inside your tv needs repaced or reprogrammed...the number on that ic is in somthing 240co8......8 legged small ic..change it....or refer to qualified tech..
Somehow in handling the remote control I pushed a button or combination of buttons and now have a blue screen with a lock symbol in red in the top left hand corner. I've tried turning the tv off, and unplugging it, as well as a combination of buttons on the remote, but it still is there. What do I need to do to remove the lock?
the exact same thing JUST happened to us, my daughter unknowingly pushed a button, or a combo of buttons on the remote, we got the blue screen with the lock in the left hand corner, tried ALL of the above (we have the same tv, insigna, only 2 yrs old), I typed the problem in on the net and got the solution, pressing the display button worked!!! Thank U who ever knew this!!!
It sounds to me like a child lock function, which is usually what the screen + padlock is on TVs. Usually your original remote would have a button / sequence to unlock the mode. If you still have your original remote, look for a child lock button or refer to your remote manual (and/or TV manual for the child lock feature) to unlock the mode.
