I am using the KVM - GCS632U, connected to the linux box (red hat), and use it to switch with windows xp. However sometimes I notice that the switch has stopped working and I am unable to switch between the 2 machines. With all efforts in vain, I end up restarting the machines (or atleast the linux box- sometimes, even that doesnt help!!!) Is there a way I can find the driver process for this on the linux box, kill it and restart it, with a hope of making it work instead of having to restart the server itself ? Is there any other thing that can be done?
This happens to me on occasion with several brands of switches. I?m not sure what?s happening on the inside but what you in essence need to do is the equivalent of a cold-boot. That means powering down both PCs and turning of any power supply the switch may have attached to it. You?ll know when you?ve been successful when all of the switch LEDs are off. Again this is and old question and it primarily intended for the person who is researching a new issue

KVM Switch locks...no mouse or keyboard function on either machine.... Must cold boot both machines before regaining function....No ability to hotkey between machines....Happens more frequently when both machines in use than when only one machine in use at a time.
Using Windows XP and Windows Vista Machines. KVM intermittently locks. Lose all mouse and keyboard function. Unable to hotkey between machines. Must cold boot both machines to re-establish mouse and keyboard function. Happens more frequently with both machines running at the same time. Happens more frequently with the Vista machine than the XP machine. Checked with Logitech technical support. They claim they don't support their products with either port replicators or KVM's in the line.
