Are you sure? Push it. On some laptops there might be two slots for the card (one above the other). If your system has space for 2 cards, try the other slot.

Try using this Unknown Devices program to identify the hardware. Then search the internet for the correct driver.

If this does not solve the problem then check with the computer manufacturer for a BIOS upgrade that could repair the problem.

The manufacturer's web site may also have documentation that identifies this unique problem.

SOURCE: pcmcia slot not recognizing pcmcia card

If thats the case that the pcmci is working on other laptop but is not working on your laptop thats there is a fault within your Pcmci slot is faulty and what you will have to do is that if there is still one more place for you to slot the Pcmci then do that but if there is not then you will have to find a pcmci that will be USB then you can be using that for the main time before you desold the pcmci slot away from the laptop and resold a new one for proper functioning ok .thanks

Does this devise pick up internet on laptop or desk top either one

Hi cfisherman8

This is a PCMCIA Wireless Adapter Card.

It slots into the large PCMCIA Port that almost all larger laptops and notebooks have.

This device can also work in a Desktop computer but requires a PCMCIA Cardbus Adapter to be installed in the Desktop Computer for it to slot into. There are different types of Desktop PCMCIA Cardbus Adapter. Some types internally connect a PCMCIA Wireless Adapter Cardbus to an empty Motherboard PCI Slot and others externally connect a PCMCIA Cardbus to the computer via its USB or Serial Ports. See here for examples:

http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Port-CardBus-PCMCIA-Adapter/dp/B000BMMN7K/ref=sr_1_21?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1316320335&sr=1-21

http://www.amazon.com/Startech-Cardbus-Adapter-Transfer-115-2kbps/dp/B004WGR6YG/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1316320098&sr=8-12

http://www.amazon.com/Quatech-PCD-X-U142--CardBus-adapter/dp/B001BEF3YC/ref=sr_1_28?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1316321566&sr=1-28

Other alternative internal wireless networking devices for Desktop computers include a PCI Wireless Network Card. See example here:

http://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Wireless-802-11n-Network-Adapter/dp/B002DYIZ2Q/ref=sr_1_14?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1316320278&sr=1-14

Once installed, it is able to send and receive data wirelessly between the computer and any Wireless Router/Modem to which the computer is configured to connect.

This device is most easily used with a Laptop. An easier solution for a Desktop PC would be a USB Wireless Adapter.

I hope this helps.

Acer Aspire 5100-3357 lost function of keyboard, touchpad and USB

hello, this has been one of the most reported problem with the 5100 model. i have 2 of them, and they have done the same thing! one i had 2 find and install a new mainboard-400 bucks! not very cost friendly. i did post a solution more than a year ago, but it is a work around that let me use the acer with the dead keyboard,touchpad,usb- you must buy a pcmcia usb card, it goes in the slot on the left side of the acer 5100. then a usb mouse and keyboard will work. (you can get this cardbus adapter cheap, as 400 bucks is 2 much. these pcmcia cardbus card come with 2 or 4 ports. this will let you use the pc, it has been a great solution for me and a lot of others, been in use over a year like this. acer is no help, unless you wish 2 spend a large amount of $. the one with the new board lasted about 8 months before the usb port stopped working for the second time, i then got a second cardbus usb card and have usb again. sorry for your problem.. good luck! do as i say and the acer will work again.( a problem model) just search for pcmcia usb cardbus you will find many 2 choose from- i picked the ones with the NEC chipset, as these are reliable! be well!

Voltage/polarity of power supply for NEC pcmcia 4 port USB2 card

If you KNOW it is 5 volts then you only need to make sure that the amp is higher and never lower. Higher amp only means it can work without getting too hot. But the VOLTS MUST BE precise. For polarity it is MOST common to have the center pin PLUS and outer NEG/GND. When I fix laptops and put the powercord wrong nothing happens. When I get it right then lights go on on PC.

External hard disk and pcmcia cardbus

There may not be enough power from the cardbus to run it. That bus is very low current to power it up so you will need the power cord.

Try reinstalled the card drivers.

PanasonicToughbook CF-27: PCMCIA/USB 2.0 Card

Hi,
Unless you can use external power to the usb 2.0 pcmcia card, a CF-27 probly won't handle the load.
Their power adapters are only 15V and the unit itself is a P2 433 at best. It's just pulling too much power.
Sorry
Good luck

Wireless network setup

Hi,

Based on your post, you currently have a working Netgear WiFi Card installed in your laptop. What you want to do is remove it from the laptop and install the said card to your desktop.

For your desktop to be able to accept the NetGear WFi card which is a PCMCIA Cardbus device, you need to install either:
1. a USB Adapter for PCMCIA as shown here; or
2. a CardBus/PCMCIA to PCI Adapter Card available here.

Either one will work. Of course you need to install the necessary drivers for the NetGear MA701NA in your desktop which is available from the CD installer that came with the NetGear or online here.

Considering the cost of the USB adapter or the PCMCIA to PCI card, you may want consider buying a PCI WiFi card or USB WiFi dongle.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Machine locks up

install the vendor specifig driver for the PCMCIA. because windows XP sp2 is also able to detect the device and when you push the device online it is detecting and there is some other device which has got same IRQ and that is conflict with this and stop. see any error that is generated in event viwer * run>type "eventvwr" and enter * see the application/system try to detect your error log and see what microsoft says about it. otherwise post the error report Thanks Arun
