I just bought new speakers and this used Denon avr 2802. I have another 2802 that works great and that's why I bought this one. I'm about 99 percent sure that I've set everything up correctly, doing everything step by step in the manual. The problem is I can't get any sound at all to come out of my speakers, not even a hum that would show that they are receiving something from the receiver. I've tried using different inputs, trying the FM tuner, and even using the speaker set up tool that usually produces a static noise that comes straight from the receiver, and I still can't get a peep from the speakers. Is something wrong with the receiver that would make it not output any sound to the speakers? Any help or advice would be great, thank you!
I am assuming you have tried new speakers on used unit on both A & B choices. Have you tried your new speakers with old 2802?
If they work OK with old unit, you have problem with amplifier in used unit. Take the used 2802 to a reputable shop and have it thoroughly tested. Perhaps it is just a loose connection.

If you look at page 16 of the user manual it tells you how to assign the devices to the optical connections. Once this is done it should work.
If you don't have the manual just type "denon avr 2802 manual" into Google and it will show a free PDF file of it. On my search it came up first!
try to reset. Unplug the unit, press and hold speaker A and speaker B buttons and plug the unit in outlet. If doesn't help, the unit may have a problem with microprocessor or dsp boad and need to be serviced at a repair shop.
check speaker conections. disconnect all the speaker wires and use one speaker that you know that works and connect it to each channel one at a time. most surround sound stereos will not go into surround mode unless all the speakers are connected so make sure stereo is in 2 channel mode to start testing. check all fuses sometimes amp fuse is seperate from power circuit and denon uses relays in 99% of thier units.
Try doing a factory reset by turning off main power switch.hold down speaker a and b buttons while turning on main power switch ,display will flash 3 time s then release buttons, this then returns unit to factory default settings.
From the FM radio mode, from your remote press the speaker button to make sure just the front speakers are on, make sure surround is off and use the tone cotrol button on the right side of the amp to adjust the bass and treble. That should clear things up a bit
turntable and speakers are too close together----separate as much as possible. -----floor is unstable and vibrate easily-------use cushion to absorb speaker vibration transmitted by floor.
